Sometimes manufacturers only build a few examples of a supercar to keep demand at a proper level. But in other instances, some cars are simply too intense to be profitable. Such was the case when Bentley engineered unimaginable power from their Continental coupe. The Continental Supersports is not simply a two-door luxury car. By adding two variable geometry turbochargers to their twelve-cylinder engine, it sends 621 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque to all wheels.

I put a few miles on a 2012 Supersports at Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach last year, and it truly scared me. Your left foot is used to brake-boost the turbos for a launch that will change your life. To feel 5,300 lbs of handcrafted car accelerate like it was hit by a train will make you reevaluate your goals for the next few decades. The center differential is borrowed from Audi and the quattro system is tuned to keep this heavyweight pointed in the right direction. Try as we might, you can’t get this car out of shape. Our only complaint is the silent exhaust. A car making this level of power should be allowed to have a voice.

Supersports rarely come up for sale, because the power and refinement are not easily found in any new car. They stand as a statement to the world that British engineering and coach building are still the standard of the world. This 2011 example was purchased new from St. Louis Motorcars and has been fully maintained throughout its 1,548 miles.
