Authorities in Guthrie, Oklahoma have arrested a 66-year-old local businessman in connection with the disappearance of Brent Mack after finding what they believe to be the remains of the missing man.
Mack, 50, was reported missing to the Guthrie Police Department on September 29. For nearly a month, Mack’s family and authorities had been searching for clues to the man’s whereabouts.
Dan Triplett, a business owner, and former Guthrie city council member was arrested at his residence after the body was found. He was transported to the Logan County Detention Center and booked for murder and desecrating Mack’s corpse.
“He killed the wrong guy because he obviously thought this guy was not loved or something to take them and discard him the way he did,” Troy Franklin-Smith, Mack’s brother said.
According to the Guthrie News Page, Mack was a former employee at Triplett’s septic service business, Triplett Backhoe. Mack’s remains were found buried under a septic tank in northern Logan County.
Law enforcement agencies investigated the case over the past few weeks, which led to the location of Thursday’s recovery, according to a news release. The Medical Examiner will need to positively identify Mack and determine his cause of death.
“You took my brother. You took their dad. You took an uncle,” said Franklin-Smith said. “But I’ll tell you, you didn’t get away with it. So you will pay the ultimate price.”
So far, a motive hasn’t been revealed in this case and police say they’re still waiting for the medical examiner to determine how Mack died.
