Strictly Come Dancing professional Gorka Marquez is said to have split from his fiancée on the same night that he was ‘battered by thugs’ in Blackpool last month.

The Spanish dancer, 26, allegedly had two teeth broken during the violent altercation, and it is now claimed that the star faced not just physical but emotional pain that evening, as his relationship with Lauren Sheridan came to an end.

A source told The Sun: ‘They were very loved-up but it has come to an end quite fast.’

Over: Strictly Come Dancing professional Gorka Marquez is said to have split from his fiancée Lauren Sheridan on the same night that he was ‘battered by thugs’ in Blackpool last month

They continued:  ‘Nobody saw this coming, and it’s a big shock for their friends and family who thought they were a great match.

‘It’s a real shame, and of course they’re both very upset by what has gone on.’

MailOnline have contacted representatives for comment.

Pained: The Spanish dancer, 26, faced not just physical but emotional pain that evening, as his relationship with Lauren Sheridan came to an end

Lauren told The Sun: ‘Neither me nor Gorka have confirmed or denied anything. I don’t want to comment.’

According to the site, Lauren has changed her social media relationship status to say she is not in a relationship, and has deleted all traces of the dancing star from her profiles.

The backing dancer is also said to have stopped following Gorka on Instagram, and shared a post which read: ‘Girls always find things out, they might not say anything right away, but they know.’

Meanwhile, Gorka took to Instagram to post a series of selfies, which he captioned: ‘Sometimes you just need to spend some time alone to find out who you really are and what you really want in life… #happySaturday’

Moving on: Lauren has changed her social media relationship status to say she is not in a relationship, and has deleted all traces of the dancing star from her profiles

The claims come after the investigation into the alleged attack on Gorka was dropped by police after they could not find any evidence.

An unnamed friend of the dancer had said that Gorka had been ‘battered by thugs’ following a show in Blackpool, Lancashire, and had two teeth broken.

However police have failed to find CCTV footage of the attack which was said to have taken place on November 19 just hours after live filming of the show.

Gorka never reported the incident to police.

Trouble ahead? The backing dancer is also said to have stopped following Gorka on Instagram

It was reported at the time that he was attacked while walking into Flamingo’s nightclub with colleagues.

However a spokesman for the TV show said Gorka had been getting out a car when a ‘random group of lads’ ran past him and attacked him.

Gorka refused to make a formal complaint to police following the incident, saying he ‘just wants to move on’.

An extensive review of CCTV footage from inside and outside the nightclub in Blackpool revealed no evidence of the attack and police were unable to speak to anyone allegedly involved in the incident.

Cryptic: Gorka took to Instagram to post a series of selfies, which he captioned: ‘Sometimes you just need to spend some time alone to find out who you really are and what you really want in life… #happySaturday’

Following the incident Gorka tweeted: ‘Thanks for all your kind messages and support about Blackpool.

‘It was a bad experience but I’m feeling better and just want to look forward to the show on Saturday.’

Basil Newby, owner of Flamingo’s, said: ‘In previous years they have had an after-show party at the club. This year they phoned to say they weren’t, but there will be a few who come and would they be able to get in.

Dropped: The claims come after the investigation into the alleged attack on Gorka was dropped by police after they could not find any evidence

‘A few of the crew came in, and I can only presume they sent Gorka a message asking if he wanted to join them, but he never turned up.

‘As soon as I found out about [the alleged attack] I knew I would have recognised him because I watch Strictly, and I thought it was weird.

‘Then the manager came in and I asked we could look at the CCTV. We went through it and he definitely did not come in. There was no sign whatsoever.’

Reassuring fans: Gorka never reported the incident to police but took to social media to assure his fans that he was safe after the incident

Mr Newby added: ‘The police came and got the CCTV footage. They said to me they didn’t even know where it had happened.

‘If you got beaten up the first thing you’d do is call the police. What’s maddening is it has tarnished us and it has knocked Blackpool.

‘I don’t think it’s been good publicity for the town because it has been in all the national newspapers and it makes us look awful. That’s not the case.’

Partners: Gorka was partnered with EastEnders star Tameka Empson, 39, on Strictly but the duo were eliminated after the third week

A spokesman for Lancashire Police said: ‘We have carried out a proportionate investigation which is now closed. No arrests have been made.

‘We have never received a complaint from the victim and any injuries sustained would seem to be of a minor nature.

‘We will always take reports of crime seriously and would urge anyone who has been a victim to come forward so they can assist us in our enquiries.’

Scene of the supposed crime: The alleged assault was said to have happened at Flamingo night club on November 19

Completed: Lancashire Police tweeted this message after closing their investigation into the claims

Gorka was partnered with EastEnders star Tameka Empson, 39, on the show but the duo were eliminated after the third week.

But despite being voted off, the dancer still appears in the routines which involve the other professionals on the hit BBC show.

Just hours before the attack, he was dancing with fellow professional Janette Manrara, 33, in a routine to a song by Rick Astley, as well as in the opening group dance.

Still on the show: Despite the fact he was voted off with Tameka, the dancer still appears in the routines which involve the other professionals on the hit BBC show
