Billionaire Bunker: Mark Zuckerberg’s Elite Neighborhood

What is the ‘Billionaire Bunker,’ the area of Miami where Mark Zuckerberg and his wife reportedly just bought property? Here’s what to know about the exclusive island.

Mark Zuckerberg has been building quite the real estate empire. From that first modest home near Meta’s Silicon Valley headquarters to a sprawling compound in Palo Alto with his wife Priscilla Chan, these two have been stacking properties for years. They’ve also added luxury spots in Lake Tahoe and Hawaii to the list—including a massive ranch that spans hundreds of acres. But lately, everyone’s talking about that record-breaking $170 million purchase in Indian Creek Village, Miami’s infamous ‘Billionaire Bunker.’ So what’s the deal with this gated community? Let’s break it down.

What is the Billionaire Bunker in Miami? Mark Zuckerberg just bought a mansion there

Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan are now officially part of Miami’s elite. Indian Creek Village, often called the Billionaire Bunker, is a 300-acre barrier island sitting pretty in Biscayne Bay. It’s the kind of place where sports legends and entertainment giants lay down roots.

According to Paul George, Historian for the History of Miami Museum, the Billionaire Bunker got its start during the 1920s real estate boom but didn’t officially become a municipality until 1939. The vibe there? Think Italian-Mediterranean meets ultra-luxury. These days, the island boasts 41 waterfront homes, a country club, and an exclusive golf course.

The 18-hole golf course and clubhouse are basically the heart of the community, George told NBC 6. ‘That becomes the first of everything there,’ he noted.

Privacy is no joke here. The island runs its own police force that patrols by land and sea 24/7. There’s only one guarded bridge connecting to the mainland, and visitors need to show ID and possibly submit to vehicle searches. And if you want to play that exclusive 18-hole golf course? Be ready to shell out a $500,000 initiation fee.

Zuckerberg and Chan won’t be lacking for famous neighbors. NFL legend Tom Brady moved into Indian Creek back in 2020 with then-wife Gisele Bündchen and their kids. Music icon Julio Iglesias has been there since 1979, and Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner bought their spot in 2021—previously owned by Iglesias.

According to People, the couple closed on that jaw-dropping $170 million property in March 2026. Dr. Aaron Rollins, a celebrity cosmetic surgeon, and his wife Marine Rollins (a real estate agent) sold the home. They originally bought the two-acre land for over $30 million in 2020, then designed and built the mansion from scratch. The asking price was initially $200 million.

The plans for this 30,000-square-foot beast aren’t fully done yet, but the details are wild. Expect a gym, hair salon, massage room, a library with a secret passageway, a party room, and a massive 1,500-gallon aquarium. Plus a heated pool, a garden, and a private dock with 200 feet of waterfront.
