Okay, so you know Cam Ward, the former Miami Hurricanes quarterback? Before the 2025 NFL Draft, he basically told teams, “Pass on me, and you’ll regret it.” Cocky, right?
Fast forward six games into his pro career, and things weren’t exactly smooth sailing (1-5 record, coach fired). But did that stop Ward from speaking his mind? Nah.
“I’m not playing how I want to play,” Ward told The Athletic. “The only way is up… So, once I play how I want to play, I think the league will be f*****.” Talk about confidence! He’s putting the whole league on notice, letting them know what’s coming.
Naturally, everyone’s wondering about the man behind the swagger. And that includes the woman by his side: Nailah Landon.
Ward and Landon are college sweethearts, but didn’t always go to the same school
Ward hopped around a bit in college – Washington State, University of the Incarnate Word before Miami. It was at Incarnate Word in San Antonio that he met Landon.
The exact start date of their romance is a little fuzzy, but their social media game has been strong since 2022. Remember when Ward got that Heisman Trophy nomination? Landon showed love with a simple, “Pookie” and some heart emojis when he reposted the billboard pic from New York City. Cute!
Landon was at Barry University before transferring to Incarnate World where she graduated with a degree in communications and media studies in 2023. Not just a pretty face, y’all.
Landon is an athlete as well
Born in Chicago on March 5, 2001, Landon’s got a solid support system with parents Norvice and Noni Weathers, and four siblings.
Like her man, Landon’s an athlete. She balled out in volleyball, basketball, and track in high school, racking up Metro Suburban All-Conference honors. She even played volleyball at Barry. She continued her collegiate athletic career at Incarnate Word.
Post-graduation, Landon landed a gig as a marketing coordinator for our very own Miami Marlins. Talk about levels!
Landon isn’t afraid to make bold predictions either
Landon isn’t afraid to make bold predictions and showed plenty of support for her man before he was drafted.
Prior to draft night, Ward told The Associated Press, “You’re either going to draft me or you’re not. If you don’t draft me, that’s your fault. You’ve got to remember you’re the same team that’s got to play me for the rest of my career, and I’ll remember that.”
He also shared a carousel of Instagram photos that included a selfie taken by Landon of the couple posing in a car window.
“FIRST,” Landon commented on the post, referencing the spot she and Ward were confident he would be drafted at.
