Dog Abandonment Caught on Camera: Outrage & Investigation

0
In a wild surveillance clip, a woman is caught strolling up to the University Veterinary Center in Anaheim, California, swinging a plastic bag with a whole dog inside… and launching it over the fence like she was taking out the trash. Now, she’s facing some serious consequences once she’s caught.

Dr. Ash Hakhamian of the university found the little Maltese mix lying on the ground after surviving a drop no dog should ever experience. The spike strip on the fence? Bent, snapped, knocked clean off. The injuries? Extremely sad.

“To see he went through this, and then hit his face or whatever he hit in that bag, and we found he sustained injuries to his jaw,” Hakhamian told NBC News. “It’s just an insult to an existing injury.”

And that wasn’t even the end of it. The dog was crawling with fleas, his fur matted to the point of misery.

“The countless fleas all over his body, the matting,” Hakhamian said.

Right now the survivor, because that’s what he is, is getting treated at Orange County Animal Care, finally experiencing the love and medical attention he should’ve had from day one.

Meanwhile, Anaheim Police didn’t waste time. They located the woman, who apparently lives right near the center, and questioned her. Officers have already handed her info to the Orange County district attorney, so charges may be coming down real soon.

As for the community? Folks are heated. Phones ringing off the hook. Everybody wants to adopt the little guy but Hakhamian says hold up. The pup needs weeks to recover before adoption is even on the table.

And Hakhamian had a message loud enough for anyone struggling with their pets to hear: if you can’t take care of them, reach out for help. Shelters, rescues, vet hospitals, there are options that do not involve plastic bags and fences.
