Just days before turning 49, Floyd Mayweather Jr. says he’s not done yet.
The undefeated boxing legend announced he will officially end his retirement and resume his professional career following his spring 2026 exhibition bout against Mike Tyson.
Mayweather has signed an exclusive promotional agreement with CSI Sports / Fight Sports as he prepares for what he’s calling the “next stage” of his career.
“I still have what it takes to set more records in the sport of boxing,” Mayweather said in a written statement. “From my upcoming Mike Tyson event to my next professional fight afterwards — no one will generate a bigger gate, have a larger global broadcast audience and generate more money with each event than my events.”
Mayweather famously retired in 2017 at age 40 after defeating MMA star Conor McGregor, finishing his career with a flawless 50-0 record, including 27 knockouts. Since then, he has stayed active through exhibition bouts against names like Logan Paul, Mikuru Asakura, and John Gotti III.
Whew, boxing fans get into this. Looks like Floyd Mayweather Jr. ain’t done cashing checks or collecting belts just yet. The undefeated champ just revealed he’s coming out of retirement… yes, again… and this time it’s following his spring 2026 exhibition showdown with Mike Tyson.
According to reports, Mayweather has inked an exclusive promotional deal with CSI Sports / FIGHT SPORTS as he gears up for what he’s calling the next phase of his career. And in true Money May fashion, he’s already talking big, real big.
“I still have what it takes to set more records in the sport of boxing,” Mayweather said in a written statement to ESPN. “From my upcoming Mike Tyson event to my next professional fight afterwards — no one will generate a bigger gate, have a larger global broadcast audience and generate more money with each event — then my events. And I plan to keep doing it with my global media partner, CSI Sports/FIGHT SPORTS.”
Now let’s not forget Floyd walked away from professional boxing back in August 2017 at age 40 after stopping MMA star Conor McGregor and locking in that squeaky-clean 50-0 record, with 27 knockouts. Since then, he’s been outside playing in the exhibition space, sharing the ring with names like Logan Paul, Mikuru Asakura and John Gotti III, because if there’s a bag involved, Floyd is never too far away.
Now, about that Tyson fight. The exhibition between Mayweather and Tyson was first announced last September, with spring 2026 as the target window.
But clearly CSI Sports was determined to make it all happen:
“Signing Floyd Mayweather to un-retire after he captures another world-wide audience with his Mike Tyson match-up, highlights our commitment to providing our global audience with the most high-profile fighters in the sport,” Richard and Craig Miele, co-founders of CSI Sports/Fight Sports, said in a written statement. “Floyd will once again continue to dominate boxing with the biggest audience and highest gross events of all time, and we are proud and privileged to be able to do with our global team at CSI Sports/FIGHT SPORTS. We look forward to even more announcements that will excite fans and continue to build the sport in 2026!”
Now the question is: are y’all here for another official Mayweather run, or is this just another exhibition era remix? Either way, one thing about Money May, he’s going to make sure the spotlight (and the check) stays right where he likes it.
Outside the ring, Mayweather has also made headlines after filing a multimillion-dollar lawsuit against Showtime, claiming he is owed at least $340 million from his reported $1.2 billion in career fight purses.
If Mayweather returns to sanctioned professional competition, he’ll be stepping into a division filled with fighters nearly half his age. But with rumors swirling about Manny Pacquiao also returning to the pro ranks, fans are already speculating about a possible rematch of their 2015 mega-fight.
Whether it’s exhibitions or official bouts, one thing remains consistent — Floyd believes the money, the spotlight, and the records still run through him.
