Boyd, a star cornerback for the New York Jets, was rushed to Bellevue Hospital in critical condition after being shot in the stomach early Sunday morning. Can you imagine? The bullet traveled through his abdomen and is now lodged in his lung, requiring multiple procedures. Thankfully, doctors say he’s stabilized, but he’s still got a long recovery ahead.
NYPD released updated footage showing the suspect fleeing the scene. They describe him as wearing:
- A black cap
- Black sweatshirt
- Black pants
- Multi-colored sneakers
- A black book bag
Detectives are analyzing the footage “around the clock” to identify him. They’re leaving no stone unturned.
Reportedly, Boyd told detectives that he was outside Sei Less, a popular Asian fusion spot on West 38th Street when a dispute broke out. The motive’s still unclear, but investigators are focusing on a possible attempted robbery involving Boyd’s necklace. That area is a hot spot for celebrity sightings, bustling nightlife, and tons of foot traffic, which makes this investigation even more complex.
Boyd’s teammates and friends across the league are definitely feeling this hard.
Jets defensive end Jermaine Johnson posted:
“Everybody please send prayers to my brother and teammate Kris Boyd and his family!”
Jets tight end Jeremy Ruckert added emotional words:
“He just had a child… You think about those people in his life and pray for him and his family.”
The Jets organization issued a brief statement, acknowledging they’re aware of the situation but haven’t shared more details. We’re holding them and Boyd’s family in our hearts.
Boyd signed a one-year contract with the Jets this season. Even with a preseason shoulder injury sidelining him, he’s a valued member of the team. That kind of grit deserves respect.
Originally drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in 2019, Boyd has played for the Arizona Cardinals and Houston Texans before landing in New York. He’s put in the work!
Sei Less, known as a go-to spot for athletes, artists, and even Mayor Eric Adams, confirmed they are cooperating with investigators. That’s what we like to hear.
As the NYPD amps up its search, the football community and fans nationwide are hoping for justice and a full recovery for the young father and athlete. We’re sending all the positive energy his way. Let’s come together as a community and help bring peace and healing to this situation.
