So Sad: Former Child Star Tylor Chase Remains on the Streets as Police Say Their Hands Are Tied

It’s always heartbreaking to see someone you watched growing up struggle. Fans who tuned into Nickelodeon shows are feeling it deeply right now, as former child star Tylor Chase is reportedly homeless again, sleeping on the streets of Riverside. What’s even tougher is that, according to police, their hands are tied – they can’t legally force him into the help he needs.

Despite widespread concern and efforts from many to offer support, Tylor Chase, known for his role in β€˜Ned’s Declassified,’ is back facing homelessness in Southern California. Law enforcement sources, including TMZ, confirm that their options are severely limited, not for lack of caring, but due to California law itself.

Riverside Police Department spokesman Ryan Railsback clarified the situation. He explained that while Tylor clearly needs long-term mental health or substance abuse support, officers simply can’t compel him into a facility. The law only goes so far. This stark reality became painfully clear when a mental health crisis team initiated a 72-hour involuntary psychiatric hold for Tylor. Once that period was up, he was released, right back onto the streets.

It’s not just fans concerned; fellow entertainers have also stepped up. Shaun Weiss, known from ‘Mighty Ducks,’ has been a vocal advocate for Tylor, actively pushing for more support behind the scenes.

Even his former ‘Ned’s Declassified’ co-star, Daniel Curtis Lee, tried to visit and secure help, but unfortunately, those efforts didn’t pan out.

Railsback elaborated on why police intervention is limited. Tylor isn’t legally deemed ‘gravely disabled’ or a direct danger to himself or others. That’s the specific legal threshold, and once the 72-hour hold expired, there were no legal grounds to keep him. Adding to the complexity, Tylor has reportedly turned down offers of help, calmly declining placement in facilities. Authorities emphasize a crucial point: homelessness itself is not a crime.

Even if officers were to arrest him for narcotics possession or drug paraphernalia, Railsback pointed out these would only be misdemeanor charges. This means Tylor would likely be released swiftly with a summons. Basically, the system’s hands are often tied in ways many people don’t realize.

Tylor has reportedly been transient for a while, battling alleged meth addiction. Railsback maintains that police are exhausting every legal avenue available. But he drew a firm line, stating simply, ‘We can’t kidnap him.’ It’s a stark reminder of the legal limitations.

For those watching this unfold, it’s a harsh, painful reminder. Fame offers no lifelong shield, and sometimes, even with widespread concern and good intentions, the system just can’t respond in the way we might hope.
