    Do not SHOT the messenger…

The 1992 romance-thriller The Bodyguard starring Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner is getting a remake.

Not many people are happy about the news as is. Not only is The Bodyguard a classic but the late singer’s shoes are no easy ones to fill. But Tyra Banks already has some ideas about who should play the two leads. While co-hosting TODAY With Jenna & Friends, Banks said her vote was for Taylor Swift to play Houston’s former role.

“I think Taylor Swift, ’cause business and commerce, art — she would freakin’ sell like crazy,” she told Jenna Bush Hager. The supermodel also gave it some quick thought to keep the interracial love element in the movie.

“I’m just gonna be real, I’m a Black girl,” Banks said. “It was Whitney Houston as a Black girl, Kevin Costner as a White man. What if we flipped it and it was Taylor Swift and Idris Elba? Hot!”

Before Banks gave her idea, Bush Hager revealed that Sam Wrench would be the director. “He also directed Taylor Swift’s Era Tour, which is interesting,” Hager said. The former first daughter added that doing the concert film might not be the same as directing this movie.

Wrench has directed many other concert films including Andrea Bocelli 30: The Celebration, Billie Eilish Live at the O2, Lizzo: Live in Concert, and more.

Warner Bros. is set to produce the movie, but according tothe Hollywood Reporter, “no casting announcement have been made.”

Fans commented with major disapproval in the America’s Next Top Model host’s suggestion.

On majic1021’s Instagram post, one person said, “Tyra is out of her damn mind.”  Another wrote, “She could have kept that To herself.”

A third said, “Ummm I will pass on this unflavored idea.”

Even some people who are part of Swift’s fan club weren’t supportive.

“As a huge Swiftie I do not support this,” wrote one.  Another said, “I looove Taylor Swift but respectfully it’s a no for me.”

Most people simply don’t want a remake. However, there were a few people who gave their suggestions for casting.

One person said, “Leave the movie alone if anyone should do it. My pick is Mariah C.”

“It definitely wouldn’t be Taylor it would need to be a Tori Kelly or a Joss Stone situation IF they did. I think they should just leave it alone. Taylor isn’t graceful and doesn’t have the range for such a role,” proposed another.

Someone else suggested that Keke Palmer would be a good fit. “Tyra sit yo -zz down!  But Keke Palmer would be a great pick though!”

The Bodyguard tells the story of a former secret service agent (Costner) tasked with protecting a celebrity (Houston) from a stalker. This was Houston’s acting debut, in it she also does a striking performance of Dolly Parton’s “I Will Always Love You.”
