Here are just a few of the countless legends whose shoulders we stand on:

Sojourner Truth – Abolitionist and women’s rights orator behind the iconic “Ain’t I a Woman?” speech.

Rosa Parks – Sparked the Montgomery Bus Boycott by refusing to surrender her seat to segregation.

Shirley Chisholm – First Black woman elected to the U.S. Congress and first to seek a major party presidential nomination.

Angela Davis – Scholar, organizer, and revolutionary voice against mass incarceration and racial injustice.

Toni Morrison – Nobel Prize–winning author who centered Black interior life and memory in classic literature.

Maya Angelou – Poet, memoirist, and truth-teller whose words still heal and ignite generations.

Katherine Johnson – NASA mathematician whose calculations helped launch America into space.

Madam C.J. Walker – Pioneering entrepreneur and one of the first self-made women millionaires in the U.S.

Kamala Harris – First Black and South Asian woman to serve as Vice President of the United States.
