Janet Jackson Snubbed by Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2025

The Songwriters Hall of Fame has revealed its Class of 2025.

And, while there is cause to celebrate for several of the nominated names, there are a number of glaring omissions, including Janet Jackson.

Moments ago, it was confirmed that George Clinton, Ashley Gorley, Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins, Mike Love, Tony Macaulay, and The Doobie Brothers (Tom Johnston, Michael McDonald, and Patrick Simmons) are the official Class of 2025.

This means that, for the first time since 2017, no women have made the final list.

Female nominees Jackson, Franne Golde, Sheryl Crow, and Alanis Morissette did not make the ultimate cut.

Fans of 58-year-old Jackson noted her longtime eligibility and 10 Hot 100 #1’s – the vast majority of which she co-wrote.

The 2025 Songwriters Hall of Fame Induction and Awards gala takes place Thursday, June 12 at its longtime home of the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City.Want to make a statement?
