Back in ’84, Dolly Parton and Sylvester Stallone linked up for the movie *Rhinestone*. The film might not have been a hit, but the chemistry between these two was undeniable. Rumors flew about an affair, though Dolly shut them down, but the gossip rags wouldn’t let it go. Word is, Stallone’s then-wife, Sasha Czack, was keeping a close eye on things during her divorce from him, even accusing him of getting a little too close to our Dolly.

Yep, *Rhinestone* put Dolly and Sly together as love interests, and folks couldn’t help but wonder if the romance was real off-screen. Dolly’s said she loved working with him.
“He was so funny that he’d make me laugh until I’d lose my breath and beg him to stop,” she said, according to the book *Dolly on Dolly*. “He’s really fun to work with — he’s nuts, sick, crazy, a scream!”
She admitted she found him handsome, but she straight-up denied any affair. He wasn’t her type, she said, but Czack wasn’t buying it.
“He’s pretty to look at, too, and I know that when Sasha, his last wife, was getting her divorce, she said we were having an affair,” Parton said. “Not true at all. Sly and I are just not each other’s type.”

Before *Rhinestone*, Dolly was going through a rough patch – dealing with illness and depression that had her in a dark space. She even wrote some heavy stuff in her journal. But working with Stallone? She says that helped bring her back from that low.
“Even though the movie didn’t do that well, that was one of my greatest projects,” she told Rolling Stone. “Because Stallone was so full of life, and so crazy and so funny, and he made me laugh a lot, which was real healthy for me. That movie got me back on track.”
Stallone’s even said that *Rhinestone* was the most fun he ever had on a film set. Good for them, finding joy in the work.
She once said she would never cheat on her husband
While filming *Rhinestone*, Dolly had already been married to her husband, Carl Dean, for almost 20 years. Through the years, she’s played with affair rumors, but Dolly said she’s never actually had a secret romance. She likes to flirt, but she wouldn’t cheat, she says.
“He’s not jealous, and I’m not jealous of him. He knows I flirt. He flirts too,” she said, according to the Mirror. “Yes, it’s an open relationship, but not sexually, and I would kill him if I thought he was doing that. He would shoot me, too. At the end of the day, we love each other madly.”
Still, over the years, Dolly hasn’t exactly denied all the rumors. She knows what’s up: any press is good press.
