Cardi B has had enough of fans and followers making it their business to regularly levy criticisms at artists.
In particular, she came to the defense of Tyla on an X Spaces stream from Los Angeles, amidst what she describes as “straight up disrespectful” comments launched at herself as well as the barrage of negative comments posted in reference to the South African singer.
“People been dragging the sh*t out of Tyla and it’s, like, the girl don’t even fucking address or talk about nothing,” Cardi said, fed up with the backlash Tyla continues to receive. “I’m starting to feel that people just don’t like celebrities,” the “WAP” rapper continued.
“It’s like the only way that that people like celebrities, if you don’t f*****g say nothing at all.”
South Africa singer and songwriter Tyla poses on the red carpet as she arrives for ‘The Prelude to the Olympics’ at The Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris on July 25, 2024, ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Cardi B’s comments included the emphatic and provocative statement:
“Goddamn, what do you want her to fing do? Cut her fing veins? Like, enough. Enough. I really think that’s what y’all be wanting.”
Her remarks were meant to highlight the intensity of the bullying and to urge people to be more empathetic, rather than piling on public figures to the point of emotional harm. The statement sparked significant discussion online, with many praising Cardi for addressing the toxicity and mental health risks caused by relentless internet harassment, especially for young artists navigating global fame and cultural misunderstandings.
Tyla Addresses Identity Controversy
Cardi does not directly address why Tyla is receiving so much hate, but she does declare that enough is enough. Many speculate that hate stems from Tyla referring to herself as a “Coloured,” at one point
“[What] I do know is every single time I scroll down on my TikTok, there’s a video of her and people are talking shit and it’s like, Goddamn, what do you want her to fucking do, cut her f****g veins? Like, enough. Enough,” Cardi said.
