    Agnes Tirop, the Olympic-winning long distance runner, is remembered today. A Kenyan star, Tirop won bronze medals in the 2017 and 2019 World Athletics Championships in the 10,000m. She also secured a fourth-place finish in the 5,000m at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

    Tirop broke the women’s 10km road race world record in September 2021. Her tragic death shortly after shook the world, highlighting the ongoing struggles faced by Black female athletes.
