Word on the street is that Taylor Swift’s new album, Life of a Showgirl, dropped on October 3rd, and Swifties wasted no time diving into the lyrics. It seems they’ve already connected the dots, pointing to a certain song as being about Travis Kelce’s ex, Kayla Nicole. Let’s get into it!
The track “Opalite” apparently throws light on Swift and Travis Kelce’s past loves before their paths crossed. The buzz is all about these lines: “You couldn’t understand it, why you felt alone / You were in it for real, she was in her phone and you were just a pose. And don’t we try to love love? We give it all we got / You finally left the table, and what a simple thought / You’re starving ’til you’re not.”
The speculation went into overdrive when an old video of Kelce seemingly arguing with his former flame and telling her to “get off” her phone popped back up online. Chile, the internet never forgets!
But Kayla wasn’t about to let the rumors slide without saying something. Here’s her alleged clap-back.
Nicole seemingly responded to Swift’s diss
The word spread quickly to Kayla because she seemingly responded that same day.
Kayla hopped on her Instagram Stories, posting a clip from an old episode of America’s Next Top Model. In the clip, Eva Marcille asks Tyra Banks, “How do you compare yourself to the other girls out there?” Banks simply replied: “I don’t compare myself to other girls … I’m no comparison to anyone else.” A word!
For those who don’t know, Kayla and Kelce were on-again, off-again for five years. And, yep, she was his last public boo before Swift.
It’s gotta be tough watching your ex move on with a superstar. Like, could you imagine seeing their love story play out on the world stage? Kayla also had to deal with a barrage of hate from Swifties. Ouch.
Nicole admits she ‘obsesses’ over the online hate she hasn’t been able to escape
After sharing her “no comparison” post, Kayla got real on her podcast, revealing that she actually “obsesses” over some of the online negativity she receives.
During an episode of her The Pre-Game podcast on Oct. 4, she said, “As someone who obsesses over the fact that I, on a daily basis, am terrified of my comments, terrified of my DMs. I don’t want to be triggered. I don’t want to care, I don’t want to look.”
Kayla added that this year “hasn’t been the easiest” and “I’m like God, if anybody f****** Googles me, they’re gonna think I’m a crazy person right now.”
She has a point. Just peep her social media; no matter what she posts, commenters always manage to bring it back to her ex and Swift.
But Kayla insists that she has “some tough, thick skin.” We love to see it.
