The vibrant L.A. music scene is reeling after the devastating loss of 22-year-old artist and social media star, DELAROSA. Born Maria de la Rosa, this talented young woman was tragically gunned down in what police are calling an ambush-style attack early Saturday morning in Northridge.
According to LAPD, DELAROSA was in a parked car with two others when assailants pulled up and unleashed a hail of gunfire around 1:25 a.m. Witnesses described a chilling scene: suspects approached quietly before the chaos erupted, shattering the night’s peace.
Though rushed to a nearby hospital, medical staff couldn’t save her. The other two passengers sustained injuries, but details about their conditions or whether they were shot remain scarce. As of now, investigators haven’t identified a motive or made any arrests.
This loss stings even more knowing DELAROSA was just finding her stride. She had only dropped her debut single, “No me llames” (which translates to “Don’t Call Me”), in August. With over 40,000 Instagram followers, she was consistently sharing her studio grind. A recent post, featuring her with an electric guitar and the Spanish caption, “Busy cooking in the kitchen,” had fans buzzing, anticipating her next big move.
Instead, her story joins a tragic list of young talents gone too soon.
The Latin music community is, understandably, heartbroken and in disbelief. Icons like Jimmy Humilde and Juan Moises of Los Gemelos de Sinaloa have extended their condolences. Social media is overflowing with prayers and cherished memories from her devoted fans. Producer and engineer Times J Martinez captured the collective grief perfectly in Spanish, honoring her promise and passion: “Me duele que haya sido con violencia,” meaning, “It hurts that it happened with violence.”
Her family, including Deyanira De La Rosa, has shared their profound sorrow and disbelief in multiple public tributes, a testament to the love they shared.
As L.A. waits for answers, DELAROSA’s community — online and off — will continue to hold tight to her music, her vibrant spirit, and the bright light she left behind.
