Rap mogul 50 Cent is putting serious money behind his vision for Shreveport, Louisiana, pledging a massive $124 million to turn the city into a real entertainment engine for the South.
In a new announcement with Louisiana Economic Development, 50 Cent laid out plans to revitalize several downtown venues โ from the former Stageworks facility to the now-renamed G-Unit Studios campus โ plus build a dome-style immersive venue and a new green space that centers film, music, and live events for the community.
โThis project is the realization of the long-term commitment I have made to the City of Shreveport and the State of Louisiana,โ he said, highlighting how reinvesting in downtown and upgrading existing spaces into state-of-the-art production hubs can create jobs, inspire hope, and give the industry real reasons to build their futures in Northwest Louisiana.
Heโs not seeing this as a small play either. His goal is to position the region as a national hub for film, music, and live entertainment โ or in his words, โAll Roads Lead to Shreveport.โ Alongside G-Unitโs commitment, the state of Louisiana is stepping in with up to $50 million in performance-based support to modernize infrastructure across the three main project sites.
On social, he doubled down on the momentum, celebrating the news on Instagram with a reminder to fans and locals that the work is just getting started. This expansion isnโt random โ it builds on his existing footprint in the city. Back in December 2023, he secured a 30-year lease for the Millennium Studios complex, rebranding it as G-Unit Studios with plans to turn it into a go-to filming destination.
By summer 2024, he was already flexing that vision with the star-studded Humor & Harmony Weekend, pulling energy, talent, and attention into Shreveport and signaling that this wasnโt just talk โ it was a long game.
Now, with a nine-figure investment on the table and state support behind it, his Shreveport takeover is officially in motion. For local residents, Southern creatives, and Black storytellers looking for spaces that actually invest in their visions, this could reshape what an entertainment pipeline out of Louisiana really looks like.
