📢 BlkCosmo vs. Big Tech: Why Are We Being Targeted?

Black Cosmopolitans, it’s time we break the silence.

Over the past few months, BlkCosmo — one of the fastest-growing Black entertainment and culture hubs — has been systematically restricted, flagged, and shadowbanned across platforms, particularly Facebook.

    And no, it’s not random.

This is part of a growing pattern of suppression against Black creators — and today, we’re putting it in the spotlight.

🎯 Evidence of BlkCosmo Being Targeted

(Click to view below our proof of shadow banning on IG.)

    1. Scrambling Audio to Stay Alive:
When we posted a lighthearted conversation comparing Teedra Moses to Phylicia Rashad, we were forced to scramble the audio on this reel just to avoid immediate removal.

    2. Shadowbanned Conversations:
Even simple cultural debates — like this post — were hidden from our community. No explanation. No violation notices. Just silence.

    3. Sudden Content Attacks:

    • Facebook now claims our content is “not original” or “not relevant” — despite it being 100% community-driven commentary and original visuals.
    • They even tried to mislabel BlkCosmo as a “news source” — a move that drastically limited our ability to engage with you, despite our clear focus on conversation, entertainment, history, and Black excellence.

⚖️ Why This Is a Direct Violation of Fair Use and Fair Dealing Rights

Under both U.S. Fair Use and Canadian Fair Dealing laws, creators like us are legally allowed to use portions of copyrighted materials for:

    • Education
    • Discussion
    • Criticism
    • Commentary
    • Parody

Our content is built for conversation, education, and community enrichment — not to infringe or steal.
When Big Tech platforms weaponize their guidelines selectively, they undermine the very laws that protect free expression.

🖤 But It Gets Worse: The Suppression Beyond Facebook

    • Try Googling “BlkCosmo.”
Despite months of extensive SEO work, keyword optimization, and organic growth, our official website barely appears, if at all, in search results — even when you type “BlkCosmo” specifically.
Instead, random unrelated results or massive corporate sites dominate the page.
    • Denied Ad Placements:
We attempted to run promotions through Facebook’s ad system — and they were denied without cause.
No violations. No real review. Just quiet suppression.

All of this points to one thing:
We are not being judged by the content of our posts — we are being judged by the content of our culture.

    And that is unacceptable.
