Blueface’s $2.25M California Home Tour

Rapper Blueface, whose real name is Johnathan Michael Porter, and his girlfriend, Nevaeh Akira, recently started a new chapter in their relationship, welcoming their first child together. Their son, Johnathan Jamall Porter Jr., was born on Aug. 18, and weeks later, Blueface made a major purchase for his family. Hip-hop biography and the personal lives of artists continue to captivate fans who follow their journeys both on and off the mic.

TMZ reported that the “Thotiana” hitmaker bought a new home in Moorpark, California, for $2.25 million. You can search Blueface to find more coverage on this major life milestone. Sources familiar with the sale told the outlet that the property has more than 5,000 square feet of living space with five bedrooms, five and a half bathrooms, and a four-car garage.

The house is located in a gated community and boasts mountain views. It also has high ceilings, several archways, and plenty of natural light.

The Christian Crane Agents of LA, who represented Blueface during the recent sale along with former Death Row Records producer and real estate investor Eric “C-Style” Yokoyama, are the same agents he used to list his Canyon Country residence.

In January 2026, the hip-hop artist put his 4,303-square-foot Juniper Springs Drive abode on the market for $1.25 million. As the listing notes, it features five bedrooms and five bathrooms, sits on a quiet residential street, and offers a light-filled layout with expansive living areas and a seamless indoor-outdoor design, providing privacy while remaining close to shopping, dining, and major roadways.

Blueface put that home up following his release from prison in November 2025 after serving time for a probation violation related to a 2021 assault case. He has since returned to social media and has shared plenty of moments in his everyday life with Akira. He has also hinted at a possible music comeback.

Before settling on the new property, Blueface streamed Akira’s reaction, and they seemed to be on different pages. He said he was unsure about the house while she was ready to pick out furniture and organize their space with fridge organizer solutions and meal prep containers for their growing family.

So how do these two handle decision-making issues? According to Numerologist.com, because they share a Life Path number of 11, they do it “deliberately, and with structure. When both people are in their accommodating, harmony-seeking 2 mode, organic decision-making stalls. Both defer.

Hip-hop producer Tay Keith‘s death didn’t make his bills disappear. His estate is now being hit with nearly $200,000 in claims from creditors.
According to court documents obtained by BlkCosmo, American Express National Bank filed two separate claims against the late producer’s estate this week. The claims total roughly $87,000—$60,000 on a Business Platinum account and another $27,000 on a standard Platinum card.

AmEx isn’t alone in pursuing payments. Bank of America filed a claim connected to Tay Keith‘s 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLS, asserting the estate owes the financial institution approximately $115,000.
Combined, creditors are currently seeking more than $198,000 from his estate.
When Keith died in June, he left behind a substantial estate that included his music catalog and royalties, bank accounts, a Lamborghini, the Mercedes, real estate holdings, and various business interests.
The Nashville Medical Examiner determined Keith died from the combined toxic effects of ketamine and mitragynine, an active compound found in kratom—a Southeast Asian plant whose compounds interact with the brain’s opioid receptors.
These claims emerged following a probate notice inviting creditors to come forward with outstanding debts against the estate.

Smith was clear that those 12 years weren’t a mistake or something to erase. “Living my life as a woman for 12 years showed me the man that I wanted to become,” he wrote.
He emphasized that his love and respect for the transgender community remain unchanged, stressing that everyone deserves the freedom to become their authentic selves.
Smith signaled there’s more to his journey than what fit in a single statement, saying he plans to share the full story when the timing feels right.
D. Smith came out as transgender in 2014 and joined “Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta” two years later, becoming the show’s first openly transgender cast member.

According to Page Six, a source from the Cleveland suburb said that the people in the neighborhood cannot wait for the celebrity couple to visit their new home.

The insider ensured that the couple will get all the privacy they need while living in the lakefront mansion. “LeBron James lived here in his prime, and nobody bothered. It’s the Cleveland charm,” the insider asserted. They then referred to a nearby yacht club and said, “Everybody would love their grandkids to spot her at Shoreby Club.”

Kani was featured at the Emerge! 15th Anniversary Fashion Show, an event that drew Chaka Khan, beauty CEO Danessa Myricks, and model-actress Eva Marcille. The showcase celebrated 15 years of Emerge! as a platform for emerging designers seeking greater visibility and brand elevation. But it was also something else: a highly anticipated return to the runway for Karl Kani, a fashion trailblazer who proved Black design and street culture could anchor a global empire. He didn’t just break through traditional fashion barriers. He paved the way for generations of Black designers to follow.

Kani spoke about the evolution of his brand with clarity. “The DNA of Karl Kani was street, oversized, baggy, and that trend hasn’t gone anywhere. Every designer wants that now. But what we do is elevate it to a luxury level, taking certain fabrics and turning them into luxury items.”

The silhouette has shifted over the years too. “Back in the day, our clothing was very boxy. Now it’s all about silhouette. We’ve been emphasizing that for the last year to really take the brand to the next level,” he explained.

Long before luxury fashion houses took notes from street culture, Kani understood that Black style wasn’t a passing trend. When the high-fashion world was skeptical, it is now operating on the exact blueprint he pioneered decades ago.

“When you’re in the moment, you don’t realize how big it is,” Kani reflected. “Now looking back, I see what’s old is new. When I pull up fashion shows from 1996 at Macy’s, I see those same styles other designers are doing today. I’d never say we were ahead of our time. I think we were right on time because hip hop was just becoming mainstream. We inspired people to feel like, ‘If he could do it, I could do it.'”

For Williams, the 15th Anniversary Fashion Show was a full-circle moment. She reflected on her original mission: giving designers the visibility they weren’t receiving in the industry.

“Coming from Chicago with zero fashion industry background, I used my PR and event management roots to build my own table in a city known for exclusion. I didn’t wait for permission to get in. I just took my space,” Williams said. “Now our show is one of NYFW’s most anticipated events, drawing 400 people and turning the industry toward us.”

Having Kani as part of the celebration held special meaning. “I grew up wearing his brand, so knowing that history makes this moment full circle. Even 15 years in, I feel like we’re just getting started and taking things to the next level. The best is yet to come,” she added.

Beyond NYFW, Kani is preparing for the release of his memoir “Life by Design,” arriving in November. He describes it as a story rooted in “grit and determination to the end.”

Kani’s partnership with Williams and Emerge! represents a natural continuation of his 30-year legacy. On the NYFW runway, his latest collection proved his influence remains as vital today as it was in 1989.

“After 30 years, our journey from Brooklyn to an international stage proves that hard work and unity endure,” Kani said. “My message is simple: determination can preserve anything, and when Black creators stand together, there’s no limit to what we can achieve.”

Real Hip-Hop Network Returns: Who Owns Culture

Hip-hop has a built-in audience. Now, a media platform created to celebrate the genre wants to help shape what the community sees. Real Hip-Hop Network (RHN) is preparing for a 2026 relaunch backed by Blacksun Private Equity, and its leaders are focused on reaching today’s audience without losing the culture in translation.

Atonn Muhammad, founder, chairman and RHN CEO, says the network aims to give the hip-hop community more influence over how it’s represented in media. “We need to control the narrative about who we are to the world,” he said. Gary Bernstein, a veteran media executive, is joining RHN as a strategic adviser. Both he and Muhammad framed the partnership as more than nostalgia or an attempt to simply recreate the Black media landscape of 2008, when Real Hip-Hop Network first launched.

The platform gives artists and creators a way to share their work while retaining ownership of their intellectual property. Distribution flows across radio, streaming services, and other channels—a significant shift from traditional media gatekeeping.

Muhammad’s path to RHN stretches back to his work in entertainment during the 1990s and his background in finance and media. By the mid-2000s, he was developing the concept for a dedicated hip-hop TV network as the landscape was already shifting.

“We needed to be able to be the ones controlling what people see and hear about who we are and what we represent to the world,” Muhammad said.

When RHN launched as a cable network in 2008, Muhammad wanted to create an alternative to media narratives that too often centered the worst aspects of Black culture. That gap between representation and reality hasn’t closed in 2026.

“The most important aspect is to create a platform where there’s a different perspective—one that’s sensitive to the needs of the community it serves,” Muhammad said.

The relaunched RHN focuses on hip-hop lifestyle and culture, challenging negative portrayals and presenting a broader definition of what the art form encompasses. That includes the traditional four elements—DJing, breakdancing, emceeing and graffiti—plus something Muhammad calls essential: knowledge, wisdom and understanding.

But RHN isn’t fighting old stereotypes with old media tactics. “No young person wants to be preached to,” Muhammad said. “They want to be informed.” The goal is giving young people the tools to become innovators and the information they need to shape the culture’s future.

RHN enters a radically different media environment than the one it left. Gen Z and Gen Alpha don’t wait for cable television or traditional radio to understand what’s happening. They navigate between social platforms, streaming services, podcasts, creators and live experiences as a natural part of consuming culture.

Bernstein is leveraging decades of experience building Black audiences through radio and syndicated media. He’s worked with Superadio Networks and personalities like Wendy Williams and Rickey Smiley. Now, his focus is connecting that broadcast history to the creator economy—where power increasingly lies.

“Legacy media isn’t dying,” Bernstein told The Root. “But it needs to evolve.” He sees an opportunity combining radio with podcasts, video, streaming, live events, social media, commerce and owned intellectual property into one interconnected ecosystem.

Muhammad closed with a broader vision: “Hip-hop at its best, urban culture at its best, could be a tool to empower the disenfranchised and bring communities together.” That’s the real mission behind the relaunch.

On September 17, 1849, Harriet Tubman and her two brothers set out from the plantation toward freedom in the North. Her brothers turned back almost immediately, overwhelmed by fear. But Tubman kept walking—alone into the darkness, toward a life she’d never actually lived.

History remembers her as the legendary “Moses of Her People,” the woman who conducted dozens to safety along the Underground Railroad. Yet the full scope of her brilliance extends far beyond those familiar stories. On the 177th anniversary of her escape, it’s worth revisiting the lesser-known dimensions of Harriet Tubman‘s life—the facts that rarely make it into textbooks.

The Injury That Shaped Her Resolve

Before she became the Underground Railroad’s most famous conductor, a brutal act reshaped her life entirely. As a teenager, an overseer hurled a two-pound iron weight at an enslaved youth attempting to flee a store. The weight struck Tubman in the head instead.

The injury was severe. She suffered chronic pain, seizures, and sudden bouts of unconsciousness for the rest of her life. Medical experts would have called it a disability. Tubman called it a blessing. She interpreted the vivid visions and dreams that followed as divine guidance—spiritual certainty that propelled her forward when fear might have stopped her cold.

The First Woman to Command an Armed Raid

Most people don’t realize Tubman was a military strategist. In June 1863, during the Civil War, she became the first woman to lead an armed military operation. She guided Union gunboats up the Combahee River in South Carolina, using intelligence gathered from her network of Black scouts to navigate past Confederate water mines without detonating a single one.

In a single night, that raid destroyed Confederate supplies and liberated over 700 enslaved people. Tubman held no official rank, but she demonstrated tactical precision that would have impressed any general. She didn’t just rescue people—she calculated every move.

Around 1844, she married John Tubman, a free Black man. In that moment, she also reclaimed her identity. She renamed herself Harriet, choosing to honor her mother rather than accept the identity her enslavers had imposed. It was an act of self-definition that predated her escape by years.

Her Final Act: Building Sanctuary

After everything—the violence, the hunts, the war—Tubman could have rested. She didn’t.

Living in Auburn, New York, she watched formerly enslaved Black Americans age into poverty with nowhere to turn. At 74 years old, she purchased 25 acres at auction and established the Tubman Home for Aged and Indigent Negroes. She took on debt. She poured every resource she had into the effort because she understood something fundamental: freedom meant nothing if your body had no place to rest when it grew old.

By 1908, the home was operating. Eventually, Tubman herself spent her final days being cared for inside the very refuge she’d built for others. Today, the Tubman Home at 180 South Street in Auburn remains a public museum and part of the Harriet Tubman National Historical Park—a living monument to one woman’s refusal to stop fighting for her people.
