GRAMMYs 2025 to Honor Quincy Jones with Star-Studded Tribute

As the music world continues to grapple with the 2024 loss of Quincy Jones, a legendary producer, the GRAMMYs are set to pay tribute to his life and legacy with a star-studded celebration at Sunday’s ceremony (February 2).

As part of a series of special performances at this year’s GRAMMYS including tributes to the resilient spirit of Los Angeles after the devastating wildfires and a toast to Jones, the ceremony’s 67th annual edition is calling on some of the industry’s biggest names to perform including Brad Paisley, Brittany Howard, Coldplay’s Chris Martin, Cynthia Erivo, Herbie Hancock, Jacob Collier, Janelle Monáe, John Legend, Lainey Wilson, Sheryl Crow, St. Vincent, and Stevie Wonder.

They join an already megawatt performers’ roster that included superstar acts like Billie Eilish, Chappell Roan, Charli xcx, Doechii, RAYE, Sabrina Carpenter, Shakira, Teddy Swims, and more (as reported here).

Hosted by Trevor Noah, ‘Music’s Biggest Night’ will broadcast live from the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles and CBS.

She posted via X (formerly Twitter), claiming that A$AP Rocky tried to shoot A$AP Relli after feeling jealous of Rihanna’s flirtation with him. Banks, known for her outspoken nature, shared what she suggests went down behind the scenes.

According to Banks, Rocky had Rihanna hanging out in Harlem, where she was giving Relli attention, sparking Rocky’s jealousy. Banks claimed that after Rihanna flirted with Relli, Rocky allegedly invited him for a meetup, only to hug him and then attempt to shoot him. Banks suggests that Relli wasn’t motivated by money but was instead emotionally hurt by Rocky’s actions, as he had considered him a friend.

In her post, Banks also accused Rocky of being responsible for the tragic overdose of A$AP Yams, pointing to the alleged physical and emotional abuse Yams endured from Rocky, including being mocked in front of others and enduring physical altercations that worsened his mental health. Banks even claimed that Rocky had only given Yams’ mother a “measly” $60,000 after Yams played a significant role in shaping Rocky’s career.

Banks further insinuated that Rocky’s reckless behavior extended to endangering other members of the A$AP Mob, including A$AP Illz. She expressed strong feelings about the situation, calling for Rocky to face legal consequences, including charges such as attempted murder, felony assault, and emotional distress.

For as long as many of us have known Oprah, we’ve known of her “longtime” partner, Stedman Graham, too. The CEO of a marketing and consulting firm in Chi-town, Graham has been by the side of the Queen of Talk since 1986. He’s seen her turn her eponymous show into a cultural juggernaut (the highest-rated daytime talk show there ever was), then start a widely successful magazine, and finally, launch her own network. She’s never had to dim her bright light to be with him. He got it. He got her.

“This career is extremely important to you, and for a long time, I felt like it was first in your life, and I knew it was first in your life,” he said during an appearance on her show in 1989. That’s the same year they covered Black Cosmopolitan! “I know that that’s changing. I know there’s a process that you have to go through personally to get to the point where you realize that the Oprah Winfrey Show is not the most important thing in your life. And I also realize that you’re the star, and this is your life, and this is what you do, and I support you in that.”

Despite not being married after more than three decades together, their relationship has stood the test of time. Let Winfrey tell it, marriage would have probably led to their demise.

“The only time I brought it up was when I said to Stedman: ‘What would have happened if we had actually gotten married?’ And the answer is: ‘We wouldn’t be together,’” she told Vogue in 2017. “We would not have stayed together, because marriage requires a different way of being in this world. His interpretation of what it means to be a husband and what it would mean for me to be a wife would have been pretty traditional, and I would not have been able to fit into that.’”

But they’ve made it this long because he’s a rock and a safe space for her. “He’s appropriately named because he’s steady as a mountain,” she wrote in O, The Oprah Magazine in 2020. “Even-tempered, accountable, trustworthy, patient.”

And among other things, Graham loves…that Winfrey can throw down in the kitchen. “You’re a fantastic cook. You put a lot of love in the work you do, and it crosses over into the food you make,” he said in an interview with Oprah years ago. “Anything she cooks I really enjoy eating, and I appreciate it very much. She makes great pancakes, too. She makes great eggs, she makes great steaks—I mean, you could go on and on and on. She’s just an exceptional cook and an exceptional person.”

Screenshots from the conversation were shown in court Wednesday as part of Rocky’s assault trial … with Relli on the stand for a second straight day of testimony.

In the texts, Relli alleges Rocky set him up and tried to kill him when they agreed to meet in Hollywood to squash a beef … allegations Rocky quickly denies.

Joe Tacopina, Rocky’s powerhouse attorney, claims Rocky was carrying a prop gun that couldn’t fire real bullets. Tacopina says Relli’s allegations are bogus and an attempt to extort his famous client.

Americans Struggle With Job Opportunities Amid Market Changes

Newsweek reports that the number of Americans forced to find a side hustle to make ends meet has increased as the market has presented a struggle to find jobs. 

A report from LinkedIn says a third of Americans in the job market are applying for more jobs but hearing back less. One in five potential employees searching in 2024 are still looking in 2025, while 26% have put the job hunt completely on hold in lieu of the limited opportunities. 

Human resources consultant Bryan Driscol blames the lack of hiring on heavy automation and artificial intelligence (AI) avenues. “Job seekers not hearing back is a failure of the system and modern hiring processes. Companies have leaned heavily into automation and AI to screen resumes, often filtering out qualified candidates before a human ever sees their application,” he said.

“This is inefficient and demoralizing. We’re telling job seekers they need to put in more effort while simultaneously creating systems that disregard that effort entirely.”

Alex Beene, a financial literacy instructor at the University of Tennessee at Martin, is not surprised that employees are looking elsewhere for jobs since increased responsibilities do not correlate to more pay. However, the reasoning behind those giving up may relate to repeatedly having to send the same documents.

“It’s no surprise with a higher cost of living and many employee roles facing increased responsibilities that so many are eagerly applying for new positions in the hopes it will lead to better pay and less stress,” Beene said. 

Higher living costs have increased the number of people forced to take on a second job or a side hustle. According to The Washington Post, the share of U.S. workers with more than one job in 2024 went up to 5.3% of the workforce, the highest number since 2019. In states like Wisconsin, North Dakota, and Hawaii, the percentage of workers with multiple jobs was approximately double the national average of 10% in 2024.

Naomi Kowald, who lives in Cambria, Wisconsin, has a master’s degree in social work and works for a pharmaceutical drug trials company. She also secured part-time employment as a distributor for water ionization systems. However, even with two incomes, Kowald still needs more to keep up, so in spring 2024, she started selling fresh eggs to friends and family to earn more money and utilize the 16 acres of land she lives on. 

The reasons behind Americans picking up side gigs vary from desperation to opportunity, in addition to increased opportunities with remote jobs and jobs on platforms like DoorDash and Uber. Another reason is keeping sanity amid chaos. Grace Wilbanks, a public relations specialist at a credit union in Atlanta, says making collage art isn’t about money but giving her more of a work-life balance. “Once I got a cushy corporate gig, I had more flexibility and freedom on afternoons and weekends to make art,” Wilbanks said. 

“The money is nice, but I think the best way to put it is it keeps me sane. If I don’t go to the studio, I will go crazy at work.”

Rihanna and A$AP Rocky aren’t going to let his assault trial stop them from having some fun, as the couple was seen out and about after the rapper’s long day in court.

The famous duo hit the town for dinner at Verse, a swanky L.A. restaurant. Rihanna is generous with her time, offering to sign records for a man waiting outside — and her interaction with him is hilarious. The grapher tells her that he wants to get Ri’s autograph tattooed on his hand, and she tells him that’s a bad idea.

A$AP is seen in the same outfit he had on in court … wearing a white collared shirt, paired with a nice black tie and tan trench coat.

RiRi is showing her support, at least when it comes to fashion, by also rocking a trench coat, coupled with a denim buttoned-up shirt and a fresh pair of jeans.

As we reported, Rihanna could be in for a big day, as she’s planning to make her debut in court on Wednesday. Of course, if she does attend, all eyes will be on the superstar who knows how to make a big entrance. We’re told she’ll be sitting in the gallery with the general public.

The trial is heating up … on Tuesday, Rocky’s accuser A$AP Relli took the stand and recounted the moment Rocky allegedly pulled a gun on him during their dispute in 2021.

A$AP is pleading not guilty and has rejected a plea deal, after being charged with 2 felony counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm. He faces a maximum of 24 years in prison, if convicted.

The stakes are high … but from the looks of it, Rocky and Rihanna are as confident as could be.
