It’s with heavy hearts we share the news: Mary Magdalene, an influencer and artist widely recognized for openly sharing her cosmetic surgery journey on social media, has tragically passed away at 33. Reports indicate she fell from the ninth floor of a high-rise apartment building on Thailand’s scenic Phuket Island.

As PEOPLE reports, Magdalene, whose birth name was Denise Ivonne Jarvis Gongora, was discovered deceased by apartment staff in the building’s parking area on December 9. She was pronounced dead right there on the scene. The Patong Police Department has launched an investigation into the full circumstances of Gongora’s death. Adding to the mystery, apartment staff informed police that she was actually scheduled to view the apartment the very next day, December 10, after her discovery.

Investigators also found a pair of flip-flops near the ninth-floor balcony, a detail that’s now a crucial piece of their ongoing inquiry into what happened.
