Sean “Diddy” Combs was name-dropped during the Tupac Shakur murder trial when a former LAPD detective testified Diddy tried, but failed, to pay for Tupac’s execution. It’s an allegation that Diddy’s representatives immediately dismissed as baseless.
Sources close to the imprisoned mogul told BlkCosmo: “Diddy had absolutely nothing to do with the Tupac murder. He did not pull the trigger or set it up. It would be a waste of time if prosecutors ever called him as a witness.”
The allegation surfaced on Wednesday when ex-LAPD detective Daryn Dupree testified in court. He explained that he’d interviewed Duane “Keefe D” Davis regarding the 1997 murder of rapper Christopher “Biggie Smalls” Wallace in Los Angeles. Davis denied involvement in Biggie’s death but offered details about the Tupac shooting instead, including claims about Sean “Diddy” Combs.

According to Dupree’s testimony, Davis claimed Diddy owed him money. The alleged arrangement involved Diddy passing cash to an associate named Zip, who would then deliver it to Davis “for payment of the Tupac murder.” Dupree stated the money never actually reached Davis.
The detective testified that Davis told him he could “rekindle that relationship with Mr. Zip Martin and [talk] about the money that was given from Sean Puffy Combs to Mr. Martin that never got to Mr. Davis.”
Dupree also reported that Davis claimed Diddy solicited Tupac’s murder during a conversation at Greenblatt’s Deli in Los Angeles.
Diddy’s camp has not yet responded to requests for additional comment beyond their initial denial.
Day 5 of testimony in the Tupac murder trial continues this week.
