‘Iyanu’ Season 2 Clip Premieres at New York Comic Con

Just in time for Day 3 of New York Comic Con 2025, Lion Forge Entertainment (LFE) gave fans a sneak peek at Season 2 of Iyanu, the animated series inspired by Yoruba mythology. Word is the new season drops Spring 2026 on Cartoon Network and HBO Max.

Based on the graphic novel series Iyanu: Child of Wonder by Roye Okupe, who also serves as creator, showrunner, and executive producer, the series follows a courageous teenage orphan who discovers her divine powers and her destiny to save the ancient kingdom of Yorubaland.

In the new clip, fans witnessed Iyanu (voiced by Serah Johnson) and Team Chosen face off against Zaza and the People of the Deep, the most dangerous faction in all of Yorubaland. Their leader, Queen Adura, commands with both grace and ferocity, setting the stage for an unforgettable showdown. This time, Iyanu is stronger, wiser, and more disciplined, trained in the Way of the Golden Leaf, a dynamic fighting style inspired by Capoeira and taught by her mentor Olori (voiced by Adesua Etomi-Wellington). Each battle and lesson has shaped her into the hero Yorubaland needs.

Produced by Lion Forge Entertainment, one of North America’s leading Black-owned animation studios, Iyanu has become a global sensation. The series quickly became a Top 10 Kids and Family title on HBO Max, ranked No. 1 among Kids 6–12 on Cartoon Network during its premiere month in April, and remains the top Kids and Family series on Showmax across 44 African countries. The show also streams on ITVX in the UK and ABCiview in Australia.

Season 2 will feature 10 brand-new episodes filled with mythic revelations, divine powers, and political intrigue. As Iyanu continues to master her gifts, she becomes caught in a brewing conflict between Elu and the People of the Deep. With ancient artifacts resurfacing and tensions escalating between Yorubaland’s rival factions, Iyanu must uncover long-buried truths about her past to restore peace and unity to her world.
