Real estate fraud allegations are hitting close to home for former Real Housewives of Atlanta star Lisa Wu. She’s speaking out to defend her reputation after being accused of participating in what authorities are investigating as a property scheme involving a close friend in Georgia.
Wu has firmly denied the claims, pushing back against accusations that she helped defraud Norma Denise Mitchem out of a DeKalb County property through an LLC tied to Wu and her boyfriend, Donald Jacob. According to a police report filed last month, Mitchem alleged that she turned to Wu for help purchasing a home because she couldn’t secure financing on her own. The situation escalated when Mitchem claimed Wu agreed to transfer the deed back to her after resolving financial complications—but then allegedly tried to sell the home back at a higher price. Real estate fraud allegations like these can be career-defining moments for public figures.
The allegations became public after TMZ obtained the police report on May 15, 2026. Wu denied any wrongdoing in a statement to the outlet, emphasizing her track record. “For more than 30 years, I’ve built my career and reputation with integrity, professionalism, and hard work,” Wu said. “I have absolutely no involvement in fraudulent activity of any kind.” She also pushed back against the suggestion that her associations could define her character, calling it “preposterous.”
Authorities have not filed charges at this time, though the case remains under investigation. The timing of these allegations is particularly significant given Wu’s financial history. Years ago, she publicly dealt with serious setbacks during and after her time on Bravo, including a Chapter 7 bankruptcy filing and the foreclosure of the Georgia mansion she once shared with former NFL player Ed Hartwell.
Wu’s statement shows she’s not backing down from defending herself. The case is still developing, and how it unfolds could impact her public standing and legacy in the reality TV space.
