Beyoncé fans can finally exhale. The man accused of stealing unreleased music connected to her team during the Atlanta stop of the “Cowboy Carter” tour is officially heading to prison.
According to reports, Kelvin Evans pleaded guilty Tuesday to multiple charges tied to the high-profile theft case after first pleading not guilty and turning down an earlier plea offer. For many people following the story, the biggest concern was always the possibility of stolen material linked to Beyoncé making its way online.
Investigators said Evans was seen on surveillance footage allegedly breaking into a rented Jeep belonging to a member of Beyoncé’s crew just two days before her Atlanta concert last summer. During the break-in, a flash drive containing unreleased Beyoncé music was reportedly taken along with other valuables.
The case quickly took over timelines once fans realized unreleased material from Queen Bey herself may have been involved.
Evans was reportedly facing up to six years behind bars, but under the plea agreement he was sentenced to two years in prison instead.
Prosecutors also said Evans may be connected to several other vehicle break-ins in the area.
The incident had fans worried that Beyoncé’s unreleased songs could leak online, though no major tracks tied to the theft ever surfaced publicly.
Now, after months of legal back-and-forth, the case appears to be closed, with prison time replacing a trial.
