Slutty Vegan Founder Pinky Cole Files Chapter 11 Amid $1.4M Debt
Atlanta entrepreneur Pinky Cole, the visionary behind the ever-so-popular Slutty Vegan brand, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection—and honestly, it’s got everybody talking. She’s carrying nearly $1.4 million in debt, with about $1.2 million owed to the U.S. Small Business Administration and another $192,000 to the Georgia Department of Revenue.
Now, before anybody starts counting her out, let’s talk about what this actually means. Chapter 11 isn’t about shutting things down—it’s about restructuring. Pinky Cole is working to renegotiate those debts while keeping the business alive. Plenty of brands have used this process to bounce back stronger, and knowing her track record, we’d bet on her doing just that.
FROM FOOD TRUCK TO FAST GROWTH
Slutty Vegan burst onto the scene in 2018 with just one food truck serving up plant-based comfort food with bold, unapologetic branding. The culture embraced it—hard. By the peak, they had as many as 14 locations spreading that good good around Atlanta.
But you know how it goes: growth happens fast, and sometimes the operational costs catch up faster than you expected. In recent years, a few locations have closed their doors, and now we’re here at this crossroads.
LEGAL TROUBLES PILE UP
The bankruptcy filing isn’t the only thing on her plate. Back in August, a landlord for two Edgewood Avenue locations dropped a lawsuit claiming more than $87,000 in unpaid rent, late fees, and interest.
Court documents show the next move is a teleconference set for March 12, with a formal reorganization plan due by June 12. So the process is underway.
REALITY TV DEBUT AMID FINANCIAL RESTRUCTURING
Here’s where it gets interesting.
Just this week, Cole announced she’s joining the upcoming season of The Real Housewives of Atlanta. She’s stepping in alongside returning cast members Porsha Williams, Phaedra Parks, Drew Sidora, Shamea Morton Mwangi, Angela Oakley, and Kelli Ferrell. Recording artist K. Michelle is also set to debut next season.
The timing? Unconventional. But a reality TV platform could give her some major visibility while she works to get the business back on solid ground. Sometimes you gotta use every tool in the toolbox.
WHAT’S NEXT?
Chapter 11 doesn’t automatically mean the end—not by a long shot. Plenty of companies use this time to renegotiate, restructure, and come out stronger on the other side.
Still, there’s no denying this marks a major turn for a brand that was once hailed as one of Atlanta’s fastest-growing restaurant success stories. From a single food truck to a cultural moment, Slutty Vegan has already made its mark.
As the court process unfolds and cameras start rolling for RHOA, Pinky Cole’s next chapter is definitely one to watch—both in the courtroom and on our screens.
