Receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is not just the culmination of a Black artist's lifelong aspirations; it also encompasses the dreams of their friends and family. Veteran actress Nia Long was recently recognized by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce in a celebratory affair in Los Angeles that brought out icons like Snoop Dogg, her Love Jones co-stars, Courtney B. Vance, and Terence Howard, as well as fellow collaborators and producers.

The U.S. Open is still in full swing, and Black stars are continuing to show up and out on and off the court. From Naomi Osaka's iconic looks to comedian and writer Ziwe sashaying her way through in a silk dress, there's no lack of breathtaking fashion moments. The tennis icon stepped onto the court in a fierce outfit dressed head to toe in white, including a cape with small golden tennis rackets sewn into it. Alycia Parks was hard to miss in an all-red tennis outfit, while Frances Tiafoe was bright in an all-pink tennis set from Lululemon.

Some of the biggest names in music, television, film and sports are celebrating their big 5-0 in 2026, and quite a few of them have us questioning how that's even possible. From the voices behind songs we still have in rotation to actors who have been on our screens for decades, this year's birthday class is stacked. These days, 50 looks a lot different than it used to. These stars have Grammys, Emmys, NBA championships, classic records and unforgettable characters between them, and many are still adding new chapters to their careers.

With the news cycle continuing to look more and more abysmal for Black folks, it's more important than ever that people speak up and advocate for the issues that impact our community. That's especially true for Black celebrities who have a responsibility to use their large platforms to send a message to those who need to hear it.

Some of the biggest names in gospel music gathered in Charlotte, N.C., last night for the 41st Stellar Awards. Hosted by GRAMMY Award-winning artist Kirk Franklin, the awards celebrated the year's biggest songs and artists who have entertained and inspired fans around the world. Among the night's biggest winners were Lisa Knowles-Smith & The Brown Singers, who won five awards, including Song of the Year and Quartet of the Year.

The Martha's Vineyard African American Film Festival is well underway, with Black stars making their way to the island to catch the best of Black cinema, attend fascinating panels, and reconnect with friends during the final weeks of summer. From cinematographers and award-winning costume designers to filmmakers, athletes, and entertainers, the festival has attracted an impressive lineup of influential figures celebrating African American contributions to film and culture.
