Powerlifter Sonita Muluh shattered world records in April 2025 with a 311 kg squat. She attempted to break her own record at the IPF World Classic Powerlifting Championships in June with a 334.5 kg lift when spotter Ernestas Kusinas sabotaged her lift by touching the weights with his knee, disqualifying her. Kusinas admitted online he is racist and did it intentionally. Lithuanian police confirmed a criminal investigation is underway focusing on his Instagram comment and events at the championship.

Historically Black Colleges and Universities have always been about more than getting a degree. They're places where Black students find community, build confidence, and sometimes meet future business partners. During Black Business Month, we're looking at graduates who took that foundation far beyond campus. Whether in biotech or beauty, entertainment or finance, these entrepreneurs saw problems, had ideas, and decided to build something of their own. Some became household names.
