Friday marks National Black Voter Day, a moment to mobilize Black voters as the country heads toward the midterm elections. It's also a time to shine a spotlight on the issues Black voters should be watching that could make it more difficult to cast their vote. This year, that includes battles over congressional maps, changes to mail-in voting and questions surrounding the role of federal law enforcement in elections.

Patrick Dempsey seriously considered a possible run for the U.S. Senate in Maine but ultimately decided against pursuing a career in politics, choosing instead to focus on acting and his nonprofit work with the Dempsey Center.

During President Donald Trump's first term in 2018, Democrats won the House with a blue wave of moderate candidates. Fast forward to today, that polite era is officially dead, and frustrated voters are now demanding a radical overhaul of the entire party ahead of the November midterms. But while an overwhelming majority agree the current system needs to be dismantled, the party is completely fractured over who exactly is going to lead the rebuilding.
