Black Maternal Health: Monique Rodriguez’s $2M Mission
In 2013, Monique Rodriguez was eight months pregnant when she knew something was wrong. The labor and delivery nurse understood the warning signs well. When she suffered a uterine rupture, she repeatedly tried to tell the doctors caring for her that something did not feel right. Still, Rodriguez says, she wasn't heard in time. Her son, Milan, died. More than a decade later, Rodriguez, who went on to found the successful hair care company Mielle Organics, is turning one of the most painful experiences of her life into a $2 million commitment to BirthFUND, the maternal-health organization founded by journalist and author Elaine Welteroth that supports midwifery.

D4vd Death Penalty: Celeste Rivas Hernandez Case
Celeste Rivas Hernandez's parents are asking prosecutors to pursue the harshest possible punishment against D4vd if he is convicted in their daughter's killing. The singer, whose legal name is David Burke, has been charged in connection with Celeste's death after her remains were discovered inside a Tesla registered to him at a Hollywood tow yard in September 2025.

South Park Creators’ Kendrick Lamar Movie Put on Hold
South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone are apologizing for their $100 million big-budget musical being shelved. The untitled musical comedy film, known internally at Paramount as Whitney Springs, has been placed on the back burner. South Park writer Vernon Chatman penned the script for the movie, a musical comedy about slavery reparations. Kendrick Lamar helped produce and recorded original music for the film.

In the mid 1960s, Otis Redding was on the verge of becoming one of the brightest R&B and soul stars in the industry. His incredible voice and talent as a songwriter helped define the sound of his Stax Record label. But while his star was rising, his career was cut tragically short when a plane he was traveling in with members of his band crashed, killing all but one passenger on board. Although he didn't live to see it, the last song he wrote, "Sitting on the Dock of the Bay," soared to the top of the charts and solidified his place among some of the greatest singer-songwriters of all time.

Kodak Black Wins Drug Trafficking Legal Battle
