California Court Rejects Tory Lanez’s Appeal in Megan Thee Stallion Shooting Case
A California court officially shut down Tory Lanez’s appeal Wednesday, confirming that the rapper will serve his full 10-year prison sentence for shooting Megan Thee Stallion.
As reported earlier, a three-judge panel from the California 2nd District Court of Appeal reviewed the case and decided to fully affirm Lanez’s conviction on all three felony counts. No public statement was given about their reasoning, but the decision left no room for doubt — the ruling stands.
Back in December 2022, Lanez was found guilty of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, possession of a loaded unregistered firearm in a vehicle, and discharging a firearm with gross negligence.
This all stems from the 2020 shooting incident that left Megan Thee Stallion injured after a party in the Hollywood Hills.
In her testimony, Megan told the court that Lanez fired shots at her feet while yelling for her to dance. The bizarre and traumatic event happened after leaving a party at Kylie Jenner’s home, with two others present in the SUV.
She later revealed that she had bullet fragments removed from both feet during surgery. It took months before she publicly named Lanez as the shooter.
Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, is currently serving time at the California Men’s Colony near San Luis Obispo.

Word is, Lanez’s prison life hasn’t exactly been peaceful. Sources confirmed he was stabbed multiple times by another inmate earlier this year.
A post from Lanez’s verified Instagram claimed he was stabbed 14 times, causing both of his lungs to collapse. While prison officials didn’t confirm the full details, the incident was serious enough to get him transferred for safety reasons.
Before his transfer, Lanez was held at the California Correctional Institution in Tehachapi. Authorities described the altercation as “isolated,” but didn’t name his attacker.
At this point, his legal team hasn’t issued any public comment about the rejected appeal. They still have one last option — taking their case to the California Supreme Court.
A representative for Megan Thee Stallion also didn’t respond to media outlets for comment.
