Trey Songz Arrested After Alleged Assault at NYC Nightclub

Video footage is circulating online showing R&B singer Trey Songz being arrested after an early-morning incident at a New York City nightclub, and fans are already debating what really went down.

According to prosecutors and reporting out of New York, Trey Songz (real name Tremaine Neverson) was taken into custody following an alleged altercation at Dramma Night Club in Times Square around 4:24 a.m. on December 4. A staff member reportedly told him the venue was closing, and that conversation allegedly escalated into a dispute, with authorities claiming he punched the employee in the face before police stepped in.

Prosecutors say the employee has since been granted an order of protection, and the singer appeared in Manhattan criminal court, where he was arraigned on an assault charge related to the nightclub confrontation. The arrest and aftermath are now part of a growing stack of viral clips, headlines, and reactions across social media.

But the club incident isn’t the only legal issue tied to that night. Authorities also allege a separate situation earlier at Mira Restaurant in Kips Bay. In that case, Trey is reportedly facing a second-degree criminal mischief charge after more than $1,500 in damages, including broken hookahs, DJ equipment, and sofas. A restaurant manager told police he watched the damage occur in real time.

On the other side, Trey Songz’s camp is pushing back hard on the narrative. His attorney, Mitchell Schuster, says the situation has been mischaracterized and claims Trey was confronted and surrounded, with his security stepping in to protect him. Schuster argues that public figures often become targets—whether for attention, headlines, or financial gain—and insists Trey is cooperating with authorities as the full context unfolds.

The singer is set to return to court on February 18, with both cases still active. As usual, Black audiences are left navigating the tension between protecting community from harm and recognizing how quickly Black artists can become lightning rods in the justice system and the press. For now, the story is still developing, and the truth will likely sit somewhere between legal filings, viral clips, and lived experience.
