Macklemore Claims Robert Kraft and Stadium Owners Blacklisted Him From Ed Sheeran Tour

Macklemore says Robert Kraft and a group of other stadium owners essentially blocked him from joining Ed Sheeran’s tour. According to the rapper, the New England Patriots owner told Sheeran he couldn’t perform at Gillette Stadium if Macklemore was involved.
In a lengthy Instagram statement posted Monday, Macklemore explained that Sheeran revealed Kraft had called after the rapper’s pro-Palestine comments at MetLife Stadium went public. Kraft allegedly said Macklemore would not be permitted to perform at his venue. The claim escalated from there.

According to Macklemore, Kraft mobilized other stadium owners to present Sheeran with a choice: remove Macklemore from the tour or lose access to their venues.
What followed, Macklemore says, was deeply personal. He’s known Sheeran for 13 years and considers him family. Over the past week, they had several difficult conversations that resulted in what Macklemore describes as a “fundamental disagreement.”
The tension centers on Sheeran’s position. According to Macklemore, Sheeran expressed concern that the words “Free Palestine” and the Palestinian flag were upsetting to people in his circle.
Macklemore rejected what he saw as a neutral stance. Sheeran kept repeating “I don’t take sides,” while Macklemore countered that neutrality isn’t possible when it comes to the situation in Gaza.
Despite the friction, Macklemore acknowledged Ed was placed in an impossible position. He emphasized he’s not attacking his longtime friend, and he hopes their relationship can survive this.
On the tour itself, Macklemore struck a defiant note. He said he didn’t need all 10 shows anyway—just a couple of stadium-sized stages to make his message heard.
