Tinashe’s Beauty Routine & Go-To Makeup Products

0

Tinashe Jorgensen Kachingwe, known mononymously as Tinashe has a vision for her Match My Freak tour… Feminine yet deconstructed. “There’s a post-apocalyptic twist on everything, so it doesn’t feel overly put-together,” she tells Bustle. “There’s an undone-ness, which I love.”

She’s taken the aesthetic to her stage makeup, too. The key? Doing her own glam.

“I’m doing my own makeup nearly every night,” she says. “There’s a DIY feeling to it all, and the imperfection and accessibility of all definitely comes through, I think.”

Being in charge of her beat is something she says she feels comfortable with, whether she’s doing it for a performance or a night out. “I can do my own makeup in half the time that a makeup artist does,” says Tinashe.

For the former occasion, of course, it requires a little extra strategy. The singer, for example, says she’s found the perfect microphone-proof lip product.

“Anastasia Beverly Hills has the great lip scene, so if my microphone is touching my lips, it’s not going to smear all over my face,” she reveals.

Here, the singer shares more of her go-to beauty products, including her holy grail overnight mask and the hair care item that keeps her protective styles shiny and fresh.

Her MVP Cleanser

“It’s important that I cleanse my skin really well. I’m putting on makeup every single night, but also changing environments [on tour]. Sometimes it’ll be really dry, sometimes it’ll be really humid, sometimes it’s hot. If I want a gentle [cleanser], I’ll always use Cetaphil.”

Her Hardworking Face Cream

“The Ordinary has been good [for my skin]. This moisturizer is thicker, which I like. It’s nice”

Her Replenishing Serum

“When I use serums, I usually [use] a hyaluronic acid-based formula. It’ll lock in that moisture, which is really important when I’m doing my makeup every day.”

Her Overnight Beauty Treatment

“I’ve been doing a lot of deep moisturizing. I’ve been loving the Origins overnight mask for intense hydration at night.”

Her Non-Transfer Lipstick

“I like to use the Anastasia Beverly Hills Lip Velvet on stage because it just doesn’t move. I’ve gotten red a couple of times, but typically I’ll use a more nude-y shade.”

Her Fave Lip Liner

“I usually go a little darker these days with my lips. Make Up For Ever in Limitless Brown has been my go-to.”

Her Travel Beauty Secret

“One of my big beauty hacks is adding moisture to the environment. A lot of times I’ll bring a humidifier and either have that on the bus or in my dressing room. Doing that and drinking a lot of water are probably the biggest ways to make sure my skin stays as moisturized as possible.”

Her Warm-Toned Blush

“Blush is probably my favorite makeup product. It just brightens me up, and makes me look healthy and warm. I always like warmer colors, like salmon or those with a hint of orange.”

Her Non-Flaky Mousse

“A lot of times when you put mousse on your braids, if it’s really flaky, then it’s going to look bad by day two. I like this one because it doesn’t flake too much.”

Jagged Edge is Reuniting with New Music, Tour, and Album

0

Grammy Award winning R&B icons Jagged Edge are set to captivate fans once again with the release of their new single, “JUST MIGHT GET IT,” out now across all digital streaming platforms. Released under HardCase Music, LLC and distributed by United Masters, the track exemplifies Jagged Edge’s knack for blending soulful melodies with relatable storytelling. Written and produced by founding members Brandon and Brian Casey, the single is a vibrant prelude to their upcoming album and tour, both of which celebrate their enduring legacy while highlighting their relevance in today’s music landscape.

“The beautiful thing about ‘JUST MIGHT GET IT’ is how a single title can inspire entirely different perspectives,” says Brian Casey. “Brandon’s writing captures this perfectly. His take is telling the girl, ‘You keep asking for my time, and I’m giving it to you—now, what are you going to do with it? Be careful what you ask for, you might just get it.’ Meanwhile, my perspective shifts to the aftermath: ‘You’ve said you want this to end, but I don’t, and now I’m telling you—be careful what you wish for, you might actually get it.’ It’s incredible how we’re using the same title but interpreting it in such distinct ways. That’s the magic of working with him—listening to the same thing and finding completely different meanings.”

In addition to their new music release, Jagged Edge will bring their electrifying stage presence to the Atlanta Hawks’ home game against the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday, February 5th, 2025. Presented by Jack Daniels, the group will perform at halftime, delivering a powerful medley of their greatest hits along with their new single, “JUST MIGHT GET IT.”

Tekashi 6ix9ine Sues LA Fitness For $1 Million Over Brutal Gym Incident

0

Tekashi 6ix9ine has filed a lawsuit against LA Fitness almost two years after suffering a beatdown at their South Florida location. TMZ reports that the controversial entertainer, né Daniel Hernandez, is looking for $1 million in damages, claiming that the establishment’s negligence led to the brutal attack at the alleged hands of three Latin Kings gang members—Rafael Medina Jr., Octavious Medina, and Anthony Maldonado.

The suit states that Hernandez was assaulted and robbed in the attack, allegedly leading to physical injuries such as a bruised jaw, disability, shame, decrease in income, and “diminished quality of life.” The three men have been arrested in connection to the 2013 Hernandez attack.

As previously reported, Tekashi was hospitalized in the March 2023 attack after being jumped at the South Florida location. According to a TMZ report at the time, the Brooklyn-based rapper was approached by a group of men while in the sauna. Tekashi attempted to ward the men off but was eventually stomped out and left in the facility battered and bloodied. It should be noted that the rapper didn’t have any security guards with him during the time of his attack.

Shortly after the beatdown, video footage leaked online showing the combative artist lying on the ground while being jabbed and stomped.

“Bi**h a**! Clown a** ni**a!” one of the assailants in the clip remarked. “Take a picture! I want to be famous now, ni**a!” Even the videographer got in on the action, typing a caption for the video referring to 6ix9ine as a “rat.” “King Sh*t we caught 6ix9ine slipping f**k a rat ADR not on our hood,” it read.

Songhoy Blues’ ‘Héritage’ is a Beautiful Tribute to Malian Music of the Past and Present

0

From Cairo, I connect with Oumar Touré and Garba Touré, who answer from their home in Bamako, as Garba’s live guitar fills the background. They ask if I speak French, and when I tell them I do not, they laugh and graciously agree to speak to me in English.

We are meeting to discuss Héritage, the fourth studio album of their widely acclaimed band, Songhoy Blues. The 11-track record features around 40 musicians from all different Malian tribes who collectively pay tribute to the country’s rich music traditions.

Songhoy Blues rose to prominence with their inspiring story and unique sound of rock and desert blues. After a civil war broke out between the North and South of Mali in 2012, the Islamist group Ansar Dine took over the North and enforced a strict religious lifestyle. Amongst other things, they banned music.

Forced to leave their homes, Oumar, Garba, Aliou Touré and Nathanael Dembélé came together in Bamako, bonding over a shared love for music. Their first album,Music in Exile, released via Transgressive Records in 2015, catapulted them to international stages.

“Everything was going very fast,” Garba tells BlackCosmopolitan. “We were always on tour and traveling. We never had time to record all the songs we wanted.” Come 2020, the COVID-19 lockdown gave them the break they needed to return to their first records and work on new tracks.

“We were on standby here in Mali,” he remembers. “All we could do was meet with our calabash (a percussive instruments made of gourds). So we decided to make this acoustic album to return to our roots.”

Why acoustic? “We come from the North where music is traditional. Calabash and ngoni (strings suspended over a calabash drum) — we were born with and began with this kind of music,” explains Garba. While Songhoy Blues’ initial records were acoustic, the band sometimes lacked the equipment to make it sound good on stage.

“It’s hard to play acoustic in Mali because you need good engineers, backlines and amps. It’s easier to play electric drums and guitar,” he says. “But even our rock ’n’ roll songs were first created in acoustic [form].”

Héritage is dedicated to all Malian tribes. “Music is a universal language,” says Garba. “I can make music collaborations with people in London, New York or Japan. But we asked ourselves: Why is it not possible to do such a project in Mali? Nobody has made an album like this before here.”

The band did not have to travel far to reach these different musicians — including Afel Bocoum, Rokia Koné, Neba Solo and Madou Diabaté. Bamako is a cultural melting pot and home to people from all over the country. “It influenced us a lot,” says Oumar. “When we moved here, we discovered another side of Malian music. The album is also a melting pot of our experiences.”

“Toukambela” begins Héritage with a story that has been told even longer than sung. It advises Toukambela, the name of a woman married to a man with several wives, to stay calm and avoid jealousy. Featuring the traditional flute and a ngoni string instrument, Songhoy Blues reworked “Toukambela,” which was first recorded by Orchestre Kanage de Mopti in 1970.

“When we write a song, we want to talk about something [socio-political],” says Oumar. “We play and create melodies, then decide which subject to present in the song. For example, on ‘Dagabi,’ we wanted to talk about the bad side of some people in society.”

“Dagabi’s” lively energy, brought by the Senufo xylophone from Southeast Mali, betrays its serious lyrics on purpose. In Oumar’s experience, people are likelier to engage with sad topics through a danceable rhythm.

At this point in our conversation, Oumar says, “Garba, your guitar is very loud,” and Garba lowers the volume of his ambient improvisations.

Paying tribute to Malian women is a prominent theme on the album. “Woyhenna,” meaning beautiful girl, is a reworking of Songhoy singer Ibrahim Dicko’s song “Mariama.” On“Batto,” the band pays homage to the women who organize celebratory ceremonies at the cultural heart of the community. These ceremonies have been silenced in the North but continue to mark all life-cycle events in the South.

“We used a rhythm called takamba, one of our heritage rhythms that only exists here and in the surrounding countries,” says Oumar, likening takamba to women’s roles of keeping culture alive. “We don’t want to lose this rhythm.”

“We have a patriarchal society here,” he continues. “People put women in a secondary position. That’s not correct to us. If you really know the story of Mali, you know that women held a great place in our pre-modern society. They were heroes in our history.”

Their favorite song, however, is “Issa,” meaning river. It addresses the need to protect rivers as a life force to prevent desertification and catastrophe.

Songhoy Blues just returned from a tour through Algeria. Despite being unable to travel to the north of Mali, they hope to play Héritage all over the continent and the world, carrying their messages and rhythms to people everywhere. “We want people to know how beautiful Malian music is,” says Garba.

Move Over, Quiet Quitters! Now We Have Job Boundary Setters

0

Employee Connect’s analysis of the current workplace sets forth that Gen Z and Millennials, who now comprise the bulk of the American workforce, prefer a workplace that prioritizes work-life balance

As the pandemic changed how workers see their relationships between their personal and professional lives, many started to feel simultaneously overburdened with responsibilities and underappreciated by the companies that employ them. This arrangement led them to deeply reconsider how they fit into the culture of their workplaces. According to Forbes, just as “quiet quitting” created discussion around workers’ engagement or lack thereof, another concept of the American worker has emerged: the “boundary-setter.”

The “boundary-setter” is primarily interested in creating work-life balance in workplace cultures that often prioritize hustle and grind culture.

These boundary-setters are often highly productive and committed to their roles but do not let their jobs or occupations become their all-consuming identities.

Instead, they often take steps to protect their peace of mind, such as turning off email notifications after work hours, declining unnecessary meetings, and prioritizing mental health days.

In part, the rise of the boundary setter is a way for them to counter burnout, which, according to a 2024 report from SHRM, affects 44% of American workers at some point in their careers.

Their efforts also have the added benefit of making businesses, in general, reconsider how they approach and conceptualize employees’ roles.

According to Jessy Marshall, her Gen-Z employees helped her see the benefit of setting boundaries as it applies to the workday.

“They are good at setting boundaries, but they are also very good at making sure they work in their allocated time. Gen Z asking to go home early because they’ve completed their work isn’t a sign of laziness. They are just here to work smarter, not harder, which is good for my business and the office culture,” Marshall told Forbes.

Despite this, some employers still cling to the hustle culture, the “burn the candle at both ends” mentality, despite research showing that companies that employ work-life balance have better employment metrics.

According to an empirical validation study published in the European Journal of Management, work-life balance significantly boosts employee retention, and psychological empowerment plays a significant role.

In addition, Employee Connect‘s analysis of the current workplace shows that Gen Z and millennials, who now comprise the bulk of the American workforce, prefer a workplace that prioritizes work-life balance.

“Gen Z and Millennial employees, who now form the bulk of the workforce, are vocal advocates for work-life balance, seeking roles that allow them to integrate work with personal and family responsibilities. Organizations that accommodate these preferences by offering flexible schedules and remote work options are more likely to retain talent and keep employees engaged,” Employee Connect asserted.

They continued, “A healthy work-life balance directly correlates with higher job satisfaction. Employees who feel that their company respects their time outside work are more likely to be satisfied with their jobs and remain loyal. Studies show that when employees have the freedom to manage their work schedules and are encouraged to take time for themselves, they feel valued and are more productive and committed. This mutual respect fosters a positive workplace culture that motivates employees to stay.”

5 Steps To Build The Ultimate Hypercar

These are the five fundamental steps in its creation.

With well over a century of expertise in automotive manufacturing led by four generations of family-owned operations, hypercar brand Hispano Suiza continues to preserve its Spanish roots with modern marvels that compete with the industry’s biggest names. First debuted last June to honor Hispano Suiza’s 120th anniversary, the Carmen Sagrera stands out as a step forward in performance, efficiency, and driving range. The hypercar is powered by four electric motors that deliver 1,114 horsepower and an impressive 0-60mph time of just 2.6 seconds for true gentleman drivers. Handcrafted at its headquarters in Barcelona, Hispano Suiza is proud to showcase the five-phase production process of crafting a car better described as a true work of art on wheels.

Step 1: Pre-Assembly of Components & Battery Production

Building the Hispano Suiza Carmen Sagrera starts with putting together parts like subframes, suspension, and the dashboard, plus making its powerful 103 kWh battery. The design team works closely with owners to customize every detail, making each car totally unique and perfectly tailored to their style.

Step 2: Assembly of the Chassis

The next step in building Hispano Suiza’s latest hypercar is fitting the body parts onto the carbon-fiber monocoque. Every piece is carefully installed by hand to guarantee a flawless fit. At the same time, some interior features are also added, keeping the process as meticulous as ever.

A person kneels beside a partially assembled hypercar chassis in a garage, adjusting components on a hydraulic lift. A whiteboard with notes about the Hispano Suiza Carmen is visible in the background.

Step 3: Painting, Upholstery, & Rolling Chassis Assembly

Once all the parts are pre-fitted and adjusted, the painting process begins, with the customer choosing from nearly endless color options offered by Hispano Suiza. Each coat is carefully applied by hand while the final touches to the body are also completed during this stage. Meanwhile, the wiring, cooling system, steering, and brackets are installed, along with the front and rear subframes and the rolling chassis components like suspension, brakes, and wheels. At the same time, the interior starts coming to life. Using premium materials like Alcantara or leather, the upholstery is hand-cut and sewn to perfectly match the owner’s personalized options.

Dressed in protective clothing, a person meticulously applies paint with a spray gun to a car part branded "Hispano Suiza." This craftsmanship echoes the elegance of models like Carmen Sagrera in the renowned hypercar lineup.

Step 4: Final Assembly & Infotainment

With the chassis assembled and ready to go, the team is now focused on finishing up the interior, including installing the infotainment system and all the comfort features. The final touches to the exterior are also being made, like adding the emblems and the iconic stork logo that truly brings the car to life.

In a workshop, two technicians meticulously work on a futuristic hypercar, its rear compartment wide open. The sleek beauty echoes the craftsmanship of Carmen Sagrera and carries the legacy of Hispano Suiza into a new era.

Step 5: Final Validation & Handover

After about eight months of meticulous work, the Hispano Suiza Carmen Sagrera is finally ready for delivery. Before handing over the keys, the car goes through a final test drive on both the road and the track at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, right next to the brand’s facilities. Once everything is thoroughly checked and running perfectly, the car is delivered to its new owner.

Terryon “Mr. Prada” Thomas Indicted For First-Degree Murder, Facing Possible Death Penalty

0

Terryon Thomas, better known as “Mr. Prada” to his 8,000,000 followers, is now at the center of a murder case. A grand jury has formally indicted the famed TikToker on first-degree murder charges in connection with the September 2024 killing of Baton Rouge therapist, William Abraham.

The indictment, announced on Thursday (Jan. 16), will play out on trial, where Thomas could face the death penalty if convicted. Prosecutors have also charged him with “aggravated criminal damage to property, obstruction of justice, and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.”

According to the Tribune, investigators believe the brutal murder took place in Thomas’ Baton Rouge apartment, as witnesses reportedly saw the influencer struggling to move a blue tarp—later confirmed to be holding Abraham’s lifeless body. A search of Thomas’ residence uncovered sharp objects, weapons, and what officials described as a large amount of blood.

Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff Gerald Sticker called the crime “a very physical, very violent death” and the coroner determined that Abraham died from blunt force trauma to the head, neck, and shoulders.

Abraham’s body was discovered wrapped in a tarp and dumped along a highway in Tangipahoa Parish. Authorities say Thomas was later arrested in Dallas, Texas, allegedly attempting to flee in Abraham’s car.

The case has sent shockwaves through social media, with many of Thomas’ followers whispering about a “shift change” they noticed in him months leading up to the murder. Some say he seemed more withdrawn, alluding to “feeling lonely” and even made drastic changes to his appearance, including shaving his head and eyebrows.

While the motive behind the killing remains unclear, authorities have confirmed that Abraham had faced past accusations of inappropriate behavior during a therapy session. However, that case was dropped years ago, and officials have not linked it to the murder.

His attorney, Jarrett Ambeau, expressed devastation over his client’s tragic death. “I’m absolutely devastated and completely surprised that something like this could have happened to a man who I believed to be so tender, so gentle, and have such a servant’s heart.”

Thomas remains in custody without bond as he awaits trial. No court date has been set, but the case is receiving widespread attention as one of the most shocking crimes to emerge from the world of social media influencers.

Take a look at some of Mr, Prada’s TikTok’s below.

The How-to Guide for a Healthier You: A Dietician’s Advice on What to Eat for Better Mental Health

0

Food serves many functions for your average person. For foodies, it’s a source of joy, and for, fitness enthusiasts, it’s a way to achieve their goals. Some people may not realize that food can also be a transformative tool for mental health. Multiple studies show a nexus between nutrition and mental health conditions such as depression, ADHD, and anxiety.

“The nutrients that we eat in food help produce neurotransmitters that regulate mood, energy, and sleep. Some Americans are simply not eating enough, whether it is due to food insecurity or skipping meals due to having a busy schedule,” says Ashley Carter, a registered dietitian and co-owner of EatWell Exchange.

With that in mind, it may be a good time to assess your diet if you’re trying to improve your mental health this year. What are you eating, and how does it impact your mood? Once you have that information, it may be time to switch things up to achieve a mentally healthier you. Here are some foods that may help you on your journey.

Berries

One food type that can help get your mental health into good shape is berries. If you didn’t know, berries do more than satisfy your craving for something sweet or sour; they can also contribute to better mental health. A 2024 study found the juice from blueberries can temporarily minimize depressive symptoms, low mood, and anxiety.

“Berries, whether blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, or strawberries, are all rich in antioxidants and beneficial for your mood,” says Carter. “They all have such a deep color, which is typically indicative of being higher in antioxidants like flavonoids and anthocyanins. These compounds help protect against oxidative stress connected to mood disorders.

Green Leafy Vegetables

Many of us were told as children to eat our veggies, and some continued the practice into adulthood. Vegetables, as a whole, have varying health benefits, but leafy greens can be beneficial to your mental health.

Carter says veggies like spinach, kale, collard greens, gomen, and callaloo can all be helpful since they have high quantities of folate, a B vitamin that plays a role in our nervous system and has been associated with impacting mental health.

Lettuce and cucumber are other vegetables you can also consider throwing into your diet.

Oats

Whether cooked or left to sit overnight, oatmeal can be a tasty and quick way to boost your mental health.

“Oats are high in dietary fiber and have a low glycemic index, so they provide a slow and steady release of energy,” says Carter.

In addition to those benefits, oatmeal also has serotonin, a chemical that impacts mood and behavior, and antioxidants called avenanthramides, which can help protect against oxidative stress and inflammation.

The good thing about oatmeal is that it can be consumed in multiple ways: as a breakfast food, smoothie, snack, or dessert.

Omega-3 Packed Foods

Fatty fish, oysters, and seeds all contain omega-3, which increases serotonin. Omega-3 can be a natural remedy for mood disorders in two ways. For one, they can easily travel through your brain cell membrane and engage with molecules in your brain associated with your mood. Second, omega-3s contain anti-inflammatory actions that could help relieve depression.

Nuts

If you enjoy snacking or have a busy schedule, nuts are a quick and easy way to boost your mood or improve your mental health long-term.

“They contain antioxidants, which can help prevent cell damage and may be beneficial for treating anxiety,” says Carter. “Brazil nuts contain antioxidants and selenium, selenium can help improve mood by reducing inflammation which is commonly associated with anxiety and mood disorders.”

Other nuts that are good for your mental well being are almonds, walnuts, cashews, hazelnuts, and pistachios.

Protein

You can’t go wrong by incorporating more protein into your diet. Not only is it great for muscle gain, but it can also help your mood.

“Protein is also a key factor, as it contains amino acids that produce neurotransmitters like dopamine and serotonin. This helps with mood, motivation, learning, and memory,” says Carter.

There is a wide range of foods that you can choose from that are rich in protein, like salmon, chicken breast, eggs, turkey, cottage cheese, beans, and lentils, to name a few. If you struggle to eat or are skipping meals, consider throwing a protein shake into your meal plan.

Healthy Fats

Sometimes, we use fatty foods as a mood booster when not feeling our best. However, it can be healthier to lean on healthy fats vs unhealthy ones.

“Most of our comfort foods are high in fat, sugar or sodium,” says Carter referring to common comfort foods we may reach for. “These foods typically activate our brain’s reward system as they remind us of a celebration, birthday, or time with family or friends. It is possible to still get this comfort while selecting healthier options.”

Consider substituting some of your favorites with healthy fats, which can be found in avocado, dark chocolate, chia seeds, or full-fat yogurt. The goal shouldn’t be to deprive yourself of things you love but to see if you can find healthier alternatives that bring comfort and improve mental health.

Jamie Foxx appears to be targeting Katt Williams in recent interview.

0

Social media users believe Jamie Foxx has taken SHOTS at Katt Williams in a recent interview.

Here’s Why Social Media Thinks Jamie Foxx Has Taken SHOTS At Katt Williams

On Wednesday, January 15, Complex released a new episode of ‘GOAT Talk,’ which featured Cameron Diaz and Foxx via YouTube. The show largely centers on guests “crown[ing] their all-time greats,” and about three minutes and thirty-five seconds into the show, Foxx was asked to share his GOAT cuss word.

“My favorite GOAT cuss word is a sentence,” Foxx explained. “B***h made a** n***a… for me [it’s] actually scientific. Because when I see a guy that I’m talking about, he’s usually small, he’s 128 lbs. B***h made.”

In turn, Diaz asked Fox how many men he knows that are 128 lbs.

“A lot of comedians,” he responded. “I’ll leave it at that… a lot of little motherf*****g comedians. B***h made a** n****s. F**k out of here, man… tiny motherf****r.”

Internet Users React To The Recent Interview

Subsequently, users shared their reactions to Foxx’s outburst in Complex’s comment section, noting that they believe the target of his words is none other than Williams.

Here’s Why Jamie Foxx May Have Shared Words About Katt Williams

As BlkCosmo previously reported, Jamie Foxx released his latest comedic special, ‘Jamie Foxx: What Had Happened Was,’ via Netflix on December 10. Per VIBE, subsequently, footage surfaced of Katt Williams appearing to mock Foxx’s special and it delving into his 2023 medical emergency.

In the clip, Williams shared that he “didn’t know what to think” and was “crying like a baby” five minutes in.

“What the f**k am I doing crying at a special, n***a?” Williams says while appearing to speak to a crowd.

Additionally, Williams appeared to compare Foxx’s special to “televising” a “funeral.”
