Black Style at Paris Fashion Week | The Root

Paris Fashion Week street style is as much about what happens on the sidewalks as what walks the runway. This season, Black editors, designers, models and fashion insiders have turned the streets into a living exhibition of personal style, mixing sharp tailoring, statement accessories, unexpected layers and that effortless Parisian attitude that makes it all look simple. While the runway collections demand attention, the real story is unfolding outside the venues. Here’s what caught our eye during Paris Fashion Week 2026.

Effortless Chic

Some people have that gift. Getting dressed looks effortless. The Paris streets overflowed with relaxed tailoring, simple layers and those small details that transform an outfit from fine to complete.

Dapper Meets Streetwear

Sharp tailoring got an update this season. Classic menswear mixed with sneakers, oversized pieces and streetwear staples created something polished yet relaxed — all the formality of a tie without the stuffiness.

Neutral Fall Tones Take Center Stage

Fall fashion is leaning into the classics. Shades of brown, cream, gray, camel and black dominated the streets, a reminder that restraint can be louder than any neon trend.

Patterns, Shapes and the Art of Mixing

Don’t mistake the neutral palette for playing it safe. Checks collided with stripes, oversized silhouettes played off fitted pieces, and patterns showed up wherever they wanted. The rules felt looser this year, and somehow every unexpected combination landed.

Black Lace Makes an Entrance

Black lace added unexpected depth to the streets. Peeking out from under a jacket or taking center stage, the delicate material gave simple looks a sensual edge.

The Coat Is the Outfit

Forget what’s underneath. Some coats demand all the attention. Oversized silhouettes, dramatic cuts and unexpected colors made outerwear the entire reason to stop and look.

Sleek, But Make it Fun

Clean lines don’t have to mean boring. A surprising accessory here, an unexpected pattern there. This kind of minimalism feels like it’s in on a joke.

Get into the Hair Details

Hair became part of the statement. Slicked-back finishes, colorful braids and small touches that tied everything together showed that good style lives in the details.

Statement Blazer

Why settle for a basic blazer when you can make a moment? This colorful piece, belted and styled with intention, was the entire reason people looked twice.

Whimsy in Paris

Some guests brought personality to the streets. That’s what separates good style from great style — it’s the willingness to have fun with it. The best looks aren’t copies of the runway. They’re remixes.

Influencers Take the Lead

The influencers came prepared. Dramatic shapes, playful details and unexpected textures kept single-color looks from feeling predictable. Nothing was overthought, but nothing was overlooked either.

DIY Fashion

Some of the best looks come from those making their own. @sarah_monteil_ designed and wore her own pieces during last year’s Fashion Week. She’s back this season with more custom creations that prove the streets are really just another runway.

’90s-Inspired Leather

Leather brought back that ’90s feel. Sleek jackets, simple shapes and an attitude that doesn’t need to announce itself. It’s the kind of look that stays relevant because it’s never really trendy in the first place.
