Boosie Badazz is facing a civil lawsuit from a security guard who alleges the Louisiana rapper smashed a glass hookah over his head during an incident at a Houston nightclub. The suit marks the latest legal fallout from an alleged assault that led to Boosie’s arrest earlier this year.
Security guard Edward Iglehart II is suing Boosie Badazz over an alleged incident from May 24 at the Dome Nightclub in Houston. According to the lawsuit, the confrontation began when a woman in the VIP section asked Iglehart to let her use a restricted bathroom during the club’s closing.
Iglehart says he was working security that night when the woman, later identified as the rapper’s niece, requested access to the restroom. Instead of making the call himself, he attempted to direct her to another security guard. The woman then began berating him, he claims, before allegedly striking him.
When Iglehart grabbed the woman to escort her away, she fell. As he bent down to help her up, he says he was struck with a heavy object. Iglehart alleges that Boosie, whose real name is Torrence Hatch Jr., was standing over him holding a broken hookah.
Iglehart was bleeding heavily and required hospitalization following the alleged attack. He’s now seeking damages for assault and battery, as well as defamation, claiming Boosie made false statements about him on social media. He’s also suing the nightclub’s owner, 1720 Main Street Entities, alleging they overserved alcohol to Boosie and his group, creating an unsafe workplace.
Boosie was arrested in May following the incident. Club management told Houston police that the woman involved was the rapper’s niece, confirming details now surfacing in the civil complaint.
Boosie’s attorney, Carl A. Moore, pushed back on the allegations in a statement. “We plan to vigorously investigate and defend Mr. Hatch against these allegations. We wish everyone would reserve any judgement and allow this case to play out in court,” Moore said. He characterized Boosie’s actions as an attempt to defend his niece and defuse the confrontation.
Requests for comment on the civil suit remain unanswered.
