Boosie BadAzz: Guilty Plea in Gun Charge Case

Our brother Boosie BadAzz is facing some serious challenges in the legal arena. The Louisiana legend, born Torrence Hatch Jr., recently entered a guilty plea on federal gun charges stemming from his 2023 arrest in San Diego. It’s a complicated situation, and we’re sending him all the good vibes.

Back in May 2023, Boosie, who’s 42, was apprehended after San Diego PD discovered two loaded weapons in a vehicle during a routine traffic stop in the Chollas View neighborhood. He was in town at the time to shoot a music video and bless the Gaslamp Quarter with a performance at a local nightclub.

Here’s where it gets interesting: court documents show that officers had actually spotted Boosie brandishing a firearm on an Instagram Live stream he was broadcasting! Talk about a plot twist. They used that very livestream as evidence, tracking him from the sky with a helicopter before making the arrest. Sheesh!

On a recent Tuesday, Boosie stood before a federal judge and admitted guilt to being a felon in possession of a firearm. Earlier this month, he alluded to the situation in a social media post, stating:

“Just accepted a plea from the federal government on my gun case. I thought this case was over n I was going to get on with my life but ‘God don’t make mistakes’ n I’m tired of fighting. Talked to my family n this is the right decision. To all my fans across the world say a prayer for ya boy n go get the new album.” We are definitely sending up those prayers, fam.

This case has been a rollercoaster. Last summer, a federal judge initially dismissed the charges, citing a 9th Circuit Court decision that deemed it unconstitutional to bar nonviolent felons from owning firearms. But the celebration was short-lived – a larger panel of judges later reversed that ruling, bringing the case back to life. Legal system, man…

Now, Boosie is awaiting sentencing, scheduled for November 2025. In the meantime, he’s asking for our continued prayers and support, and he’s still pushing his music. Let’s keep him lifted and keep streaming that new album!
