Okay, so Diddy’s been navigating some rough waters, but word on the street is he just caught a break in one of the civil lawsuits dogging him.
A New York judge officially tossed out a lawsuit filed back in February. Apparently, a man claimed the music mogul slipped him something and sexually assaulted him at a Los Angeles nightclub way back in 2015.
The plaintiff, who was trying to break into the music scene at the time, says he was only 23 when the incident occurred. He alleges he was given a drink with a little something extra in it, blacked out, and woke up to Diddy making unwanted advances. The lawsuit also claims that Diddy threatened to derail his career if he didn’t comply.
However, the judge ruled that the case was simply filed too late. There was a five-year statute of limitations back in 2015. While New York tried to make it retroactive by extending that to 20 years, the court made it clear that the law doesn’t work that way.
The claims against Bad Boy Entertainment and Combs Enterprises were also dismissed.
This is another win in a string of them for Diddy, as a few lawsuits have been dismissed recently. Still, the hip hop mogul is dealing with dozens of other civil cases. Not to mention his upcoming federal criminal case. It’s gonna be a lot.
He is scheduled to be sentenced on October 3.
