Elon Musk Becomes First Person To Ever Reach $700 Billion Net Worth, Tesla CEO’s Recent Delaware Court Victory  Leaves Him Worth $749 Billion

Whew, talk about levels! Just days after Forbes dropped the news that Elon Musk hit a staggering $600 billion net worth, the Tesla CEO outdid himself. He’s now the first person on record to reach a whopping $700 billion. Thanks to a recent Delaware Court win concerning his Tesla stock options, Musk is reportedly sitting on an incredible $749 billion.

This past Friday (December 19), a Delaware Supreme Court decision overturned a previous ruling. That earlier court had voided a massive $139 billion in Tesla stock options that were awarded to Elon Musk, the world’s richest man. According to ABC News, the lower court had initially nixed a $55 billion pay package from 2018, originally designed to keep Musk at the helm and propel Tesla to new industry heights.

Elon Musk Wins Appeal In Delaware Court Case That Voided His Tesla Stock Options

That $55 billion incentive package has certainly grown, now valued at an incredible $139 billion, Forbes reports. Back in 2018, when that deal was first made, Tesla’s market value hovered between $50 billion and $75 billion. Talk about a glow-up! This upward adjustment is exactly why Forbes now pegs Musk’s net worth at that eye-popping $749 billion figure.

Initially, the Delaware Court of Chancery had ruled against Musk, stating the way the package was awarded was unfair due to his significant control over Tesla’s board. But the Supreme Court saw things differently, granting Musk’s appeal and declaring that taking away those options was an “improper remedy.”

Before this Supreme Court ruling, Forbes had actually cut the value of these specific Tesla stock options by 50% since January 2024. But once the decision came down, they added a cool $69.5 billion back to Musk’s net worth. This move officially makes Tesla his most valuable asset once more.

And if you’re wondering what’s second on his asset list? That would be SpaceX, where he owns an estimated 42% stake. With SpaceX valued at $800 billion, Musk’s portion alone is worth around $336 billion.
