It’s been a little over a week since Coi Leray announced that she’s expecting her first child. She and her boyfriend, Trippie Redd, appeared glowing and joyous in the announcement photos. But there’s someone else geeked to meet the couple’s bundle of joy: Benzino!
In a recently released interview, he shared how he learned about Coi’s pregnancy, his hopes for her, and how involved he wants to be in the child’s life.
Benzino Says He Learned About Coi Leray’s Pregnancy With The World
Speaking on the podcast ‘We In Miami,’ Benzino was all smiles and amazed at becoming a grandfather. After the show host congratulated him, Zino revealed that he “just found out when everyone else found out.” Note that Coi and her dad have had a rocky public history, to say the least.

From his comment, it appears that the ‘No More Parties’ artist didn’t directly share her life update with him. Nonetheless, Benzino shared what he hopes having a child will do for his daughter.
“It’s gonna grow her up. I hope it does. Because she’ll finally get to know what it is to be a parent. She’ll get to see first-hand what I was going through,” Benzino said.
He added that he thinks becoming a mom should give Coi newfound respect for him as a dad. Afterward, the host asked if Benzino thinks Leray will allow him to be part of the child’s life as a grandpa. He responded by acknowledging that their story on the internet has been a “little bit awkward.” Then, he suggested that their father-daughter relationship shouldn’t impact the grandparent-grandchild bond.
“Nobody really understood my relationship with my daughter before she was a rap star. Nobody was there, regardless of when me and her mother split apart…Believe me, that bay gon’ it’s granddad. It’s important for me to get my message to that baby. Regardless of whatever we’re going through, that ain’t got nothing to do with the grandbaby.”
Zino Talks About Wanting To Meet Trippie Redd
Daddy Zino also claimed that his daughter will want her child to get those “morals, values, and principles” from him and Trippie Redd’s parents. As far as the daddy-to-be, Benzino shared that he wants to “holla” at Redd. He admitted that back when the rapper and Coi first dated, he wasn’t interested in knowing him. Now that the couple is having a kid, Zino is interested in connecting to say congratulations and clear the air on any speculations of animosity.
“Granddad’s here! I got nothing but love in my heart,” he added.
Trippie Red has not publicly reacted to Benzino’s comments, and neither has Coi Leray. Instead, Leray took to her Instagram Stories overnight to share a message about the wildfires raging in California.
“Pray for California,” she wrote. “My heart goes out to everyone that has been affected by these horrific fires. No matter what, stay prayed up.”
Elsewhere on her IGS, she encouraged fans to follow her on Snapchat to keep up with her pregnancy journey. Cosmopolitans, do y’all think Benzino will also be subscribing?
