Mike Epps wants no smoke from Nicki Minaj.

The comedian is issuing an apology to the rap superstar and her family after making some unfiltered jokes during a recent stop on his We Them Ones Tour. What started as edgy crowd work quickly turned into a viral moment and not without controversy.

During his Louisville, Kentucky performance, Epps took aim at Nicki Minaj’s recent political commentary and MAGA support. While on stage, he joked that Minaj was currently getting “trained on” by Donald Trump and poked fun at her for flaunting a so-called “gold card” visa, suggesting it gave her unlimited residency rights in the U.S., only to imply that it ultimately meant nothing.

Clips from the set quickly circulated online, with many fans laughing along but others felt the jokes crossed a line. As backlash grew, Epps decided to address the situation directly.

In a video posted online, the comedian admitted he went too far and took accountability for his words, explaining that alcohol played a role in his lack of filter that night. He apologized not only to Nicki Minaj, but also to her family, saying the joke wasn’t meant to be taken as disrespectful and acknowledging that he should have been more mindful.

Nicki Minaj, meanwhile, has been trending heavily in recent weeks due to her outspoken political opinions, social media rants, and public appearances that have sparked intense debate.

Despite massive backlash, lost followers and fans dropping like flies, she’s still not backing down from supporting Donald Trump and his administration.
