An Illinois chiropractor has been arrested for allegedly secretly videotaping over 100 patients, including children, while they were undressed or partially clothed at his clinic in Kane County. So much for bedside manner.
According to FOX 8,
David Hanson was arrested on November 5 and faces multiple felony charges. These include producing, possessing, and disseminating child sexual abuse material, plus unauthorized video recording of a minor through clothing. Lawd, have mercy!
Investigators say that Hanson recorded about 186 patients, from ages 3 years old to adults, inside his clinic. What is wrong with people?
Hidden Cameras Found in Hanson Family Chiropractic Clinic
The investigation started after an anonymous tip in September. It led them to discover multiple hidden cameras at Hanson Family Chiropractic, Hanson’s clinic in Kane County. Somebody knew something and did the right thing.
Detectives say several cameras were hidden behind vents and fans in a red light therapy room, where patients would undress for treatment sessions. This is beyond violating.
The Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office says the evidence from the clinic showed that patients—unaware they were being recorded—were filmed in compromising and invasive situations. This is why trust is hard to come by these days.
Prosecutors confirmed that Hanson has been practicing since 2013 and owned the chiropractic office where the alleged recordings happened. All those years… all those patients…
Authorities Working to Identify and Support Victims
Right now, investigators haven’t confirmed if the videos were shared online or with anyone else. Let’s hope not, for everyone’s sake.
“When we find that information, we will disclose that. Right now, we just want to work with the potential victims to make sure that they get help, that they know what is happening, and that they’re a part of this process because we’re not going to force people to be a part of this, but we do also want to give them answers,” State Attorney Jamie Mosser said. Getting help is key.
Mosser emphasized that officials are focused on supporting victims and helping them understand the ongoing investigation, adding that participation in the legal process would be voluntary. This is about giving people agency in a situation where they had none.
Authorities are contacting hundreds of former patients to figure out who may have been recorded and whether minors were specifically targeted. This is a long and delicate process.
