Kid Cudi has come a long way from his public fallout with Kanye West. After Wednesday night’s Yeezy Season 01 runway show in Los Angeles, the Cleveland rapper couldn’t contain his praise for his former collaborator’s collection. We caught up with Cudi after the event, cigarette in hand and surrounded by fans seeking photos and autographs. Despite the chaos, he made time to sing Ye’s praises with genuine warmth.
When asked about his favorite part of the show, Cudi didn’t hesitate. “Oh, everything,” he said, explaining that he’d been waiting for another Yeezy showcase to happen. “It was just beautiful to see my big bro come up there and do his thing,” Cudi said. He praised the collection for having a “really clear, thoughtful vision” that clearly resonated with him. This marks a significant shift from last year, when Kid Cudi declared he was “done” with Kanye. At that time, he accused Ye of repeatedly breaking his trust and making unforgivable remarks about their late friend Virgil Abloh. The pair has since worked to repair their relationship. Cudi revealed in July that they’d reconnected, and Wednesday night’s show seemed to cement that healing. The runway show was a family affair for Kanye, with wife Bianca Censori and all four of his children in attendance to witness the moment. Cudi wasn’t alone in showing up for the event. 2 Chainz, Big Sean, and plenty of other notable figures came through to support the collection, making it a star-studded evening. Based on Cudi’s reaction, Kanye’s big night was worth the wait.
