Lamar Odom, the former NBA star who spent his prime years with the Los Angeles Lakers, is making a move that’s got people talking for all the wrong reasons. He’s joined OnlyFans. And no, this isn’t clickbait.
The announcement came this week, positioning the platform as somewhere subscribers can glimpse a more “playful” and “personal” side of him. Lamar Odom told BlkCosmo he’s not here to spell out what people will or won’t see. “People hear OnlyFans and automatically think one thing,” he said, “but I’ve lived a pretty wild life, and trust me, there are still a few surprises left. I’ve always been an open book, but there are some chapters people haven’t seen yet.”
His girlfriend Rachel Bradley also created a separate account on the platform, though they haven’t clarified whether they’ll collaborate on content.
The timing is notable. Odom becomes the first major NBA player to take this step. For those curious, the subscription runs $3.25 for the first month, then $13 monthly after that.
The reaction, predictably, has been skeptical. Twitter users wasted no time connecting dots that probably didn’t need connecting. “In other words, the money is running thin,” one wrote. “After that documentary, he realized he can’t milk Khloe for money anymore,” offered another, referencing the recent documentary about his life. Several commenters questioned whether this was financial desperation masked as content creation.
What’s absent from most of these takes is curiosity about what Odom actually wants to share. His life story is genuinely complicated—a championship-winning career disrupted by addiction, recovery, highly publicized personal struggles, and years of tabloid scrutiny tied to his relationship with Khloé Kardashian. Whether OnlyFans is the right venue for reclaiming his narrative is debatable. Whether it’s anyone’s business to judge is another matter.
The move does raise broader questions about how former athletes navigate life after sports, particularly when traditional income streams dry up or when they want control over their own story. For Odom, this is apparently his answer.
