Latto Explains Why She Brags About Her Low Body Count in Songs

Latto has sparked a conversation over a viral clip from a recent interview, where she addressed why she often mentions having a low body count in her music. Her comments on the matter come just weeks after she was questioned by a Twitch streamer who was just as curious to know why a woman’s body count should matter. Here’s what she had to say on both occasions…

Latto Explains Why She’s Proud Of Not Having Many Bodies To Her Name

In her Complex interview, released on Thursday, May 29, Latto kept it all the way real when Speedy Norman asked about the low body count references in her songs. “It’s not that deep,” she said.

For Latto, she says it’s more about empowerment than anything, letting her fans know that men shouldn’t have easy access to a woman’s body. “Be a boss. Don’t let everybody put their hand in that cookie jar, period,” she responded. And she’s not just talking to the ladies either, saying it also applies to the fellas. “I think men should be like that too,” she added with a laugh, “Y’all just be slanging that motherf***** around.”

Latto made it clear she’s not bragging about a number but celebrating her exclusivity. “Everybody ain’t touched this, everybody ain’t had their hands on this motherf***er,” she said. And while she brings it up in her songs, the 26-year-old added that she’s not judging others for how they choose to get down. “I don’t even care” what people do in their private lives, she said, keeping it classy but still firm.

Social Media Reacts To Latto’s Response

The Cosmopolitans wasted no time expressing their thoughts on the low body count discussion in the comments section of TSR’s post. Here’s what some of them wrote…

@vixxenn___ wrote, “Only people mad are the ones that’s ran thru 🤣😭”

@janeisha_missvi wrote, “She should be proud! 👏🏽 everyone should NOT have access to your goods. Protect your pum pum, privacy and peace at all costs!”

@melanin_monroe_93 expressed, “Honestly, this is a positive message she’s putting out there to all women. I don’t see why some people so annoyed by it.”

@gee2srt commented, “if Sexyy can yell hoochie coochie😭 why she can’t say she can count her bodies on 1 hand lmaoao”

@r3method wrote, “I never thought I’d see the day where a woman would get drilled for claiming to not be sexually promiscuous.”

@rob_lane_edits wrote, “I was wondering why I never see chicks quoting Latto in their captions🚶🏽‍♂️‍➡️”

@divyyredd shared, “Everybody can’t experience you! It’s called boundaries & morals!”

Rapper Claps Back At Twitch Streamer Tylil’s Shade

Flash back to earlier this month, and Latto was already defending her stance during a spicy exchange with Twitch star Tylil. When she flipped the question and asked if he cared about a woman’s body count, Tylil got bold, saying, “Why you always say that in your music? […] Stop saying that, bro.”

Latto and her sister Brooklyn Nikole appeared shook by the remark. The ‘Big Mama’ rapper looked like she was ready to pop off at the streamer. “B***h, I’m gone pop my real life,” she fired back, leaning into the camera to let Tylil and his Twitch viewers know she’s unbothered. When he questioned her on whether she felt like the public would believe her, she replied, “I don’t give a f**k if they believe me. My n****a believe me.”
