In a raw and revealing interview, Megan Thee Stallion is opening up about the physical and mental toll of her meteoric rise to stardom. The Houston-bred rapper recently experienced an onstage health scare that she says was a ‘wake-up call’ for her to start prioritizing self-care.

Megan Thee Stallion has been going nonstop since breaking out in 2019 with her iconic ‘Hot Girl Summer’ anthem. Between touring, recording new music, and other business ventures, the 27-year-old has been pushing herself to the brink.

“My body finally said enough is enough,” Megan told Entertainment Tonight. “I was just going, going, going, and my body shut down on me. I had to really take a step back and reevaluate things.”

The incident happened during a performance at Lollapalooza in Chicago last summer, where Megan abruptly left the stage mid-set. Fans were initially concerned, but the rapper later revealed she was experiencing severe dehydration and had to be hospitalized.

“I was so dehydrated and my body just could not keep up,” she explained. “I was really nervous because I’ve never had anything like that happen to me before on stage. I take my performances very seriously, so for my body to just give out on me like that was scary.”

Since then, Megan says she’s made significant changes to her daily routine and overall self-care regimen. She’s cut back on her rigorous touring schedule, delegated more tasks to her team, and committed to getting more rest, proper nutrition, and regular doctor check-ups.

“I’m learning to say no more, and to really protect my peace and my energy,” Megan shared. “As much as I love my Hotties and love performing for them, I have to make sure I’m at my best. This industry can be so demanding, but your health has to come first.”

The “Savage” rapper’s candor about the challenges of fame and the importance of wellness is a refreshing departure from the usual hustle culture mentality. By prioritizing self-care, Megan is setting an inspiring example for young Black women navigating the pressures of success.

As Megan Thee Stallion continues to evolve and thrive in the spotlight, her commitment to her physical and mental well-being will undoubtedly inspire her loyal fanbase, the Hotties, to do the same. After all, self-care is the ultimate act of Black excellence.
