Michael B Jordan is stepping into 2026 with some major love! The Palm Springs International Film Awards just announced that Michael B. Jordan is getting the Icon Award for his work in Sinners. The Awards are happening January 3, 2026, at the Palm Springs Convention Center, part of the festival running January 2–12, 2026. Big shoutout to Kering for presenting and Entertainment Tonight for sponsoring!

Festival Chairman Nachhattar Singh Chandi said it best: “Michael B. Jordan keeps showing why he’s been one of the realest performers for the last two decades. In Sinners, his reunion with Ryan Coogler brings us a bold and complex performance as twin brothers Smoke and Stack. Michael’s ability to become two different people with so much power and feeling is truly something special. For this, and for all his incredible work, we’re proud to give him the Palm Springs International Film Awards Icon Award.”

Jordan’s in good company, joining Adam Sandler (Chairman’s Award) and the Sentimental Value cast—Renate Reinsve, Stellan Skarsgård, Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas, and Elle Fanning (International Star Award). Past Icon Award winners include icons like Glenn Close, Willem Dafoe, Michael Douglas, Robert Duvall, Lady Gaga, Paul Giamatti, Tom Hanks, and Meryl Streep. And let’s not forget, Close (The Wife), Dafoe (The Florida Project), Duvall (The Judge), Giamatti (The Holdovers), and Streep (August: Osage County) all scored Academy Award nominations after their wins!

In Sinners, Jordan flexes his acting chops, playing twin brothers Elijah “Smoke” and Elias “Stack” Moore. They head back to their hometown of Clarksdale, Mississippi, to open a juke joint, but things get wild on opening night thanks to some spooky, supernatural vibes. The film, penned and directed by Ryan Coogler, also stars Hailee Steinfeld, Wunmi Mosaku, Miles Caton, Jack O’Connell, Jayme Lawson, Omar Miller, and Delroy Lindo.

This Icon Award is just the cherry on top for Jordan! He’s also set to receive the 39th American Cinematheque Award on November 20 at a gala in Beverly Hills, celebrating his impact as an actor, director, and producer. Talk about levels!

Beyond Sinners, Jordan’s staying busy. He’s set to direct and star in MGM’s new take on The Thomas Crown Affair and will also star in and produce projects like I Am Legend 2 with Will Smith and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six. Keep shining, king!
