Talk about a wild story! Some serious charges are coming down on three children in Ohio. These youngsters allegedly jacked a car, then smashed it right into a house. And get this – they reportedly picked up their car-jacking skills from Grand Theft Auto tutorials found on YouTube.
Reports from Dexerto confirm this dramatic incident unfolded on December 20th. Newburgh Heights police were on the scene after getting calls about a stolen vehicle tearing through the streets. Officers chased the car, clocking speeds over 80 mph, before it ultimately crashed into a men’s recovery home. This whole situation, eerily similar to scenes from Grand Theft Auto, thankfully resulted in no serious injuries, and the building only took minor damage.
The Driver? An 11-Year-Old.
It later came out that the suspects were just kids – an 8-year-old, an 11-year-old, and a 12-year-old. The one driving during the whole high-speed chase and crash? The 11-year-old.
After the wreck, these kids tried to run off, but police were on them fast. They were held at gunpoint before being taken into custody. A stark reminder of how serious things can get.
Hot-Wiring Skills Learned Online? Yep.
During questioning, the children reportedly confessed. Their source for learning to hot-wire a vehicle? Online tutorials. Just like the first report suggested.
Apparently, the 11-year-old was quite the quick study, successfully starting one of three cars the group allegedly tried to steal. For now, the children have been released back to their parents, but they are expected to face charges in juvenile court. A serious situation that highlights the need for guidance, especially when kids are getting their ‘education’ from the internet.
