What’s good, family? This week, the BlkCosmo Blerds podcast is bringing us some serious heat. We’re chopping it up with none other than RT Thorne, the visionary director stepping onto the scene with his debut feature film, 40 Acres.
40 Acres premiered to rave reviews at the Toronto International Film Festival, and the buzz is real. You can catch it right now On Demand and DVD, so no excuses—go support Black art!
Imagine this: society’s gone through it – plagues, wars, the whole shebang. But the Freemans? They’re not just surviving; they’re thriving on a farm tucked away in the middle of absolutely nowhere. Of course, they gotta fend off the occasional unwanted visitor.
Hailey, played by the incredible Danielle Deadwyler, and her partner Galen (Michael Greyeyes) dipped out when everything went to hell, bringing their kids along for the ride. They’ve been training them to fight, to survive… to do what needs to be done. But now, their eldest, Emanuel (Kataem O’Connor), is coming of age. He meets a young woman (Milcania Diaz-Rojas) out beyond the fence, and that craving for connection could put everything they’ve built at risk.
Hosted by the one and only Jamie Broadnax, with the sounds provided by Sammus. You already know it’s gonna be fire!
Run, don’t walk, and tune into the BlkCosmo Blerds podcast this week. Let’s celebrate Black creativity and storytelling. We stay winning!
